Monday, October 30, 2006 I am so happy. We hit the revised target as production closed today. I heaved a big sigh of relief when I heard the wonderful news. At least last Friday and today mad rush was worth it. Every bit of it. PHEW! Oh, did I mention that I went back office to work till 7pm on Saturday? Oh well, I did, just so as to rush production. Am glad we all made it and we will be treating the processing team pizza/KFC tomorrow for lunch. They deserve it! My weekend was awesome. Department chalet on Friday was a rock. Lotsa food. Booze too. I left about 2+am while the rest continued the drinking games and mahjong. Unfortunately I could not stay as I had Malay Language class on Saturday morning. Anyway, the class went smoothly and I headed for lunch before proceeding to office to work. Certainly need to revise my Malay lesson again sometime this week as I had sorta forgotten what was being taught! Sunday was really fun meeting Phyllis for lunch and heading for Waltz together. Waltz lesson was great. I mean, like really FUN! I am already looking forward to this coming Sunday's Waltz. This time round, I asked the instructor to bring me some dance shoes from his shop so that I can choose and err, perhaps buy a pair. Will cost about $70 - $90 but they are good quality. As ballroom dance requires wrapped heels rather than open-toed heels, I guess I just got to choose a pair of wrapped heels that is suitable for wider feet least my toes hurt like crazy. Actually, I overspent this month and November is gonna be a very strained month for me, what with the many birthday celebrations and now the private Waltz sessions. I may have to borrow money from Mummy. Can't wait for my bonus in December when I can clear all my debts! ARGH! Hell yes, I know, I gonna start to save. Trust me. I am genuinely trying. It's just so difficult. But alright, I ain't gonna give up. For a start, will save a certain amount of my year-end bonus then embark on better saving habits in January. Am actually contemplating to cancel one or two of my credit cards. Nowadays, I will nearly faint when my bank statements come. Discipline... Discipline... Discipline...
Thursday, October 26, 2006 It has been a busy week as usual with showrooms visitations and of course, rushing production. Was kinda frustrated because from the beginning of the month, I had projected a deficit in the production target which my accounts were supposed to hit. Yes, right from the start. I gave a realised projection and an optimistic projection too. But underlyingly, my answer to the boss is still firm. We won't be able to hit the target this month much as our manager insists we have to. Unfortunately, a fellow colleague of mine projected a very high estimate for our biggest account this month and hence, we will have a huge deficit on this month's production simply cos it is not achievable. I do feel slight injustice for him that he has to bear the blame though he was told by our direct superior that he had to give such an estimate. Perhaps it was all a political game with the management but anyhow, he should have protected himself by projecting what was realistic or optimistic, instead of what he already knew was impossible! *SIGHZ* Anyway, we had a long chat earlier and I sure hope that moving forward, he will smarten up and learn to protect himself. I honestly hope that our team will work well together, hand in hand, to achieve our target! Production closes on Monday and Charmaine and I brought documents back home tonight to vet. Just so that the processing team can speed up on production tonight. It's gonna be a long night for me today. On a happier note, will be going for department chalet with my colleagues at Aranda Country Club tomorrow night, with BBQ! Looking forward to it but too bad, won't be staying overnight. Sure hope someone is bringing wine there. *SLURP* Where knowledge is concerned, did I mention that I gonna start Conversational Malay lessons starting this Saturday? I learnt Japanese before but I find that there were not many people to communicate Japanese to. However, Malay is different. Can actually speak Malay to our Malay peers. In any case, even if I do not end up damn liguistic in Malay, I can still understand when Malays speak and I will know what they are talking about. Hehe! Am just so glad that at least I am learning something new. Excitement and happiness are usually short-lived. Now I gonna get my ass off from my computer terminal and start working else I may not get to sleep tonight! Hiakz! Labels: Work Tuesday, October 24, 2006 Death Note last night was quite nice. Full of suspense with some twists. However, there was no ending and perhaps it is just me, but I don't like movie with no proper ending! Anyway movie aside, I am feeling quite excited now. I will be starting private Waltz lesson with Phyllis, Francis and Willy this coming Sunday. Just can't wait for it to start! Ballroom dance is much more disciplined than Salsa which is a club dance. Also, it is not as male dominant as Salsa. Of course, the males still have to lead in ballroom dance but basically for Salsa, the male is dominating all the way. Which means to say that, if you have no vibes with your Salsa dance partner, it is quite difficult to dance well. But then again, it's just my two cents worth. Today is a public holiday (Hari Raya Puasa) and I will be heading to town later. Thought of checking out some proper dance shoes though I have already purchased my URS sling strapped heels last week for dancing. Hmm, the sling strapped heels can be used for work though if I manage to get another pair of proper dance heels. Oh well, it's spending money again! Labels: Dance Monday, October 23, 2006 The weekend was fruitful. Brought Mummy and her good friend (I just call him Uncle) out for lunch before heading to Sim Lim Square to help Uncle purchase a LCD monitor for his game-crazed son. Eventually got a 19" Viewsonic LCD Monitor with Speakers at $376. Pretty reasonable price. I got a red mouse for myself to use with my laptop at home. After that, Nick picked me and we headed for Kallang Macdonald to meet the rest of his Yaris club members. Pretty good turn out with 10 Yaris and red is the popular colour there. The guys were chatting about their vehicles while I went to Macdonald to eat something with one of the members' wife and 2 year old daughter. My friend Robin joined us in the evening and we headed for dinner at Old Airport Road. Robin does not drive a Yaris though. He drives an Altis. Haha! After dinner, Nick fetched me to Plaza Singapura to meet up with Willy to head for Geylang Serai to bask in the Hari Raya festive mood. Wanted to buy a Kerbaya there but was too expensive so decided not to. Also, it was so crowded and stuffy there. We should have gone Little India instead since it was Deepavali but then again, we went last year and it was too rowdy. The Malay Village was not that bad actually. All in all, it was a pleasant Saturday. Sunday was a slacking day as I woke up at 2pm. Lazed around before heading to Swissohotel Stamford for dinner. Nothing much but basically lazed my day away. Am suffering from Monday Blues today though with lotsa work to clear since I was on course last Thursday and Friday. Managed to clear most backlog and was quite relieved to leave office by 7pm. Since it's the eve of a public holiday today, all but 2 of my colleagues had left the office when I headed off at 7pm. Well, at least I know I won't have to work too late on Wednesday since I cleared most work today. Tomorrow is Hari Raya Puasa which is the Malays/Muslims' New Year. Am sure it will be really crowded anywhere tomorrow. Well, was just online with Nick and we 2 bored persons decide to go catch Death Note later. Show is at 12.25am and I will be meeting him soon. Hope the show is nice. Gonna take a quick shower before I meet Nick. Will update on the show when I get back. Till then! Labels: Festival Friday, October 20, 2006 I slept only 1.5 hours last night. Rushed out the proposal and emailed out at 6am before hitting the sack at 6.30am then waking up at 8am. However, fortunately, the course was quite interesting and I did not doze off even once. In fact, I was very lively and active during the discussion. When the training ended at 5.30pm, I was so happy. Was more than glad to rush home to sleep but to my disappointment, I got back, watched TV, slacked and till now at 1am, still awake. I definitely will look like a Panda tomorrow! All thanks to Singnet for not being able to solve my problem on why my laptop cannot dial into Singnet Broadband though I have plugged the USB cable in to connect the modem. ARGH! The mad rush from coming up with last night's proposal was still pretty vivid and I am finding it quite hard for me to calm down. Really need to catch some winks. Sigh. It doesn't help that I still get consistent phone calls from sales persons and administrators while on course earlier. I wish I did not have to keep returning calls to the unlimited calls I had missed while at training. Oh well, eventually I still had to. *GROANS* And yes, I am starting to feel tired. Sleepy too. My bed is beckoning to me now. Good night! Labels: Random Sunday, October 15, 2006  Yeah, I went crazy shopping this weekend. Was with Francis in Orchard yesterday. Shopped and caught The Departed before heading for dinner and finally home. Francis was nice enough to accompany me get my sling heels for this coming Friday's ballroom dance class. Finally got a nice pair of black sling heels from Ngee Ann City's U.R.S. boutique. Affordable with a 20% discount. Did not exceed my budgeted $50. Yipee! But err, I forgot to mention that this was my second pair of heels. Prior to U.R.S., I got a pair of beige slip-on heels in Takashimaya. Brand is CYN and I love the thai silk they use on the heels straps. Unfortunately, good quality comes with a price and that elegant pair of slip-ons is still quite pricey after the 10% discount. I got them anyway and am a happy girl, even till today. No "impulse-purchases-regret" syndromes. Oh well, at least not yet. The Departed was quite alright though the ending can be better. And I find Leonard DiCaprio damn fat in this movie. Perhaps he has always been fat but really, he is especially so in this movie. As usual, Matt Damon looks cute but too bad he played a baddie role in this production. Nonetheless, I still adore him. Movie is similar to chinese movie 无间道 with a more abrupt ending. Overall, still nice. Plot aside, DiCaprio and Damon actings improved and Jack Nicholson portraited himself so well as the execrable mob boss Frank Costello. Watchable movie I must say. Right, that was yesterday. Today was pretty nice too. Went for my regular hair and scalp treatment. Hmm, perhaps not too regular lately. Have not gone for treatment for a month. Been a little tied up lately. Anyway, went today and spent 2 hours chatting with my stylist, Tom, while he salvaged my hair and scalp to a healthy level. Anyway, Tom was mentioning that the salon will be importing in a new digital perm machine but is from Japan. He knows that I never like digital perm cos of the super dry and frizzy hair after that. But he reassured me that this machine is from Japan and using Japan technology so will be better. Well, I may wanna perm my hair again next month so I will consider. He said he would call me when the equipment arrives in 1-2 months time. We shall see. Oh yeah, I left the salon satisfied, with healthy and bouncy hair! Next, I headed for Northpoint. Shopping again, while waiting for Mummy to meet me for dinner. Amazingly, I was at Ella boutique for 1.5 hour and I practically tried all the dresses in the shop! Err, no prize for guessing right, but yes, you got it, I bought dresses from there. 3 in fact! Haha! One was a cute beige short dress. With flouncy sleeves. Really cute. I look like a little angel in it. Another was a black halter neck dress. Simple yet elegant. Hugs the body well and showing the curves. Nice! The last piece is a green dress of very flowy material. Simple, comfortable and girlie. Love them! Then it was time to meet Mummy for dinner. We had a simple dinner at a nearby coffeeshop before heading home. But not before I stopped by an optical shop and purchases a pair of cat-like orange shades. Look really cool ya! Oh, what can I say..... 
Friday, October 13, 2006 This week was crazy. Was out practically everyday and hardly in office. Today alone, I was out for showroom visitations with the designers till noon before heading for Wisma to run some errands and had my lunch. Time was well-spent in Wisma with me initially intending to buy my Lancome Moisturiser from Sasa but I ended up purchasing not just moisturizer but also some new Swiss-originated eye cream and cleanser. Oh yah, there was the leave-in conditioner too. I was poorer by $200 when I left Sasa! Nonetheless, retail therapy certainly cured my stressful mood And just as I left Sasa to check out the Sistic outlet counter to see what upcoming performances there are, I caught sight of this gorgeous dress on a mannequin in Southaven. I mean, like really nice k! I tried it on and fell in love with it. And hell yes, it burnt a $88 hole in my pocket. Ouch! I then had a quick lunch before going back office. Was sorting out some stuff before heading out to 2 places again then back to office. ARGH! Finally left about 7.30pm for dinner with colleagues. And guess what, in my rush, I left my mobile phone in office! Geesh... I have been so forgetful lately. When I was at Medi-ya a few days back, I bought some snacks, paid the cashier but left without taking my purchases. Of course, I scrambled back for them after I left the supermarket. I was utterly embarrassed when the cashier stared at me! Then today at Southaven, after I paid for my dress, I started to leave when the salesgirl stopped me. It then jolted me that she was still wrapping my dress to be put in the plastic bag. To think I actually paid and wanted to leave without that cutie dress! What's wrong with me man? And now, it's me leaving my mobile phone in office. I am really losing my memory lately. Got to try to focus and not be too stressed out. The weeks ahead gonne be quite busy especially before production closes in end November. Think I need Ginko Nuts with Bird Nest's Soup. Hmm, time for Mummy to prepare her specialty!
Wednesday, October 11, 2006 As if the haze is not bad enough, dear National Parks Board is amputating trees around my neighbourhood. The trees are mutilated and bare now! *GASP*  Worker relentlessly chopping off the green crown.

Labels: Random Tuesday, October 10, 2006  One of Broadway's more popular musicals, The Phantom of the Opera, is returning to Singapore. For a limited season... finally after 10 long years! I remembered watching this sensational musical when I was in secondary 2. It was organised by the school and a number of us went. However, the seats were not fantastic as we were poor students then and could not afford higher-end tickets. Well, things are different now. We are all working adults now though I will still be watching this reknowned musical with my secondary school friends. They are not mere acquitances but good friends since secondary 3 and 4. Anyway, tickets are open for booking only for DBS credit card holders and with a 10% discount. Since I don't own any DBS card, I was asking around and managed to enlist a friend's help to use his card. So, yes, the tickets are booked and paid. Meiqing, Qiumei, Valerie and I will be going for the performance on Sunday, 15 April 2007, at 8pm. It will be the last performance for the whole season and since we can't go on the Opening Night, I reckon that Finale Night is not too bad either. Many friends think I am crazy to book the tickets so early (6 months in advance) but I am determined to get good seats this time and of course, enjoy this world-class production with my girlfriends in comfort.  Come to think of it, it has been a long time since I watched a musical with Meiqing, Qiumei and Val. Seriously, I can't even remember when I last watched any performance with them. Am really looking forward to it. Well, 6 months will fly! Find the above exchange very cute. Actually I know poor Francis does not mean it that way but I seemed to have trapped him in the conversation. Sorry buddy! :P Actually in short, I know that Francis is trying to tell me not to jump the gun as there can be exceptions. Yes, I agree. That there certainly will be some SNAG (Sensitive New Age Guy) out there who can probably understand women and that I should not assume that men and women can never understand each other. Unfortunately, in my quarter century on this Labels: Men Tuesday, October 03, 2006 I hear wedding bells ringing and this time, they are buzzing for my little brother. And yes, my beloved bro, Desmond, is getting married! To dear Jasmine! Am really happy for them though Mum raised an eyebrow and was telling me that my brother is younger than me yet settling down earlier than me. Bleah~ Desmond was just telling Mummy and me that ROM ceremony will be next year. Both of them have already gotten a flat in Punggol. Built-To-Order type so probably will take about 3 years before the flat is ready. Desmond was just discussing with Mummy who to invite for his ROM ceremony next year. And we were exchanging suggestions on the various hotel venues to hold the ROM ceremony and reception. Just then, it struck me. Struck me hard that we have really grown up. I mean, can you imagine, my little brother, who was ever so naughty and I grew up yelling at, is getting married! It seems like yesterday when Mummy was lugging both of us to Thomson Plaza on a weekend where we kept chasing each other around and insisted for Mummy to buy us a balloon each. Mummy would then tie the strings of the balloons to our wrists and we would be hoping around the mall happily. I remembered once when my balloon string snapped and we all watched in sadness when the balloon flew up into the open air. I cried and begged Mummy to buy me another balloon which she refused to. The familiar quarrels I shared with Desmond during primary school days still echoed in my ears. I always had to scold him and hurried him home after school even though he would rather stay in school to play with his friends. I remembered hitting him. Yelling at him. Threatening him. Doing everything I could so that he would just follow me home instead of loitering in school. I may not have been the most perfect sister and probably the fiercest sister, but I really have his interests at heart. Even till today. Only two years older than him, I have to shoulder the responsibility of looking out for him even during pre-school years. Perhaps I do not know how to be patient and talk to him nicely. Perhaps I have been really fierce and unreasonable. But how else would you expect a primary school kid to discipline a younger sibling except to scold or hit him when he was rebellious? We are both headstrong Aries and growing up together has certainly been quite an arduous journey for us. Since young, I have always doted on him though I may not always give in to him. In my heart, I know that I will always help him should he need my assistance. We have both grown up and he is indeed a fine young man now, albeit several disappointing episodes during his teenage years. I must say that Mummy and I are indeed proud of this little rascal who used to play truants and make both of us so worried about him.  Well, I am just extremely elated that my little brother is getting married! Ho Ho Ho!~ |
