Sunday, November 26, 2006 After my one and half hour of Waltz, I went back to the Killiney Clinic to see the doctor. It was the same doctor I went to on Wednesday evening. He prescribed me more medicine and gave me Medical Leave for tomorrow. And of course, he specifically instructed me to rest at home tomorrow. My voice has been in this condition since Tuesday and I am very much awared it's because my throat is not given sufficient rest. I have drank as much water as I can but it isn't helping cos my mobile phone has been ringing non-stop and I have been talking on phone in my horrid-sounding coarse voice. As such, I promise myself that for tomorrow, I am not gonna be answering sales persons and partners' calls. I need to recover first before I can actually work! I dislike being on Medical Leave. In fact, I hate staying at home and not going to work. Simply because I feel that I could be at office clearing more work. And I loathe it when my friends/colleagues kept asking me "Why you always sick one huh?" With this question, I always end up speechless. I mean, I also do not like being sick and even if I am on Medical Leave, I usually work from home. But I do know that I have not been in the best of health cos of late nights and probably lack of water. I always remind myself to drink more water but the moment I step into office, I never seem to have time for a sip of water till lunch time or after 6pm. Alright, perhaps I am not disciplined enough. I will try my best to discipline myself in future. 2006 is coming to an end soon and till date, I have utilised 11 days Medical Leave (4 days for LASIK). For 2007, it will be LESS THAN 5. I must work towards that. Got to live a more healthy lifestyle. Drink more water. Sleep early. Start exercising. Sick NO MORE! Labels: Sick Thursday, November 23, 2006 My voice is so coarse now and I just got home from work. I had not wanted to work till so late but had no choice as I had to conduct a training tomorrow morning. Apparently, with my condition, I am unable to train, so my colleague is helping me. However, I still got to prepare all the training materials and I tell you, it's no mean feat. Though my throat was hurting, my handphone kept ringing. Non-stop. And I eventually got to answer the calls. I feel so terrible and my voice is horrible now. What's worse is that I actually forgot to bring my medicine home! Left my cough mixture, antibiotics and lozenges in office as I was drowning them earlier. All my colleagues were shocked and stunned when they heard my voice. In fact, most of them asked me why I still come to work. Well, I don't have a choice. Really. The training scheduled tomorrow is by partner and kinda last minute. Since I am handling this account, I got to practise my due diligence so that I can deliver a proper training session on Friday. Normally this will seem normal and I have no issue but not this time. Not when I am still sick. ARGH!
Retail therapy... here I come!  Labels: Sick Wednesday, November 22, 2006 My throat hurts so much, especially when I swallow any saliva or when I drink some water. I went to see another doctor earlier this evening and finally, the doctor prescribed me some antibiotics. The doctor whom I visited yesterday refused to prescribe me any antibiotics. I still remember very clearly that this was the same doctor whom I visited thrice the last time I fell sick and he gave me the same medication, without antibiotics. And I had to visit a non-company doctor, paid $49 and got myself cured. ARGH.... company doctors really suck sometimes. Thank god the one I went to earlier at Killiney is not bad. It was my first time there and I think I should patronise there in future should I fall sick (touch wood) again. With the constant cough and itchy throat for the whole of today, I officially declare that... 我失声了! Labels: Sick Tuesday, November 21, 2006 I woke up with a bad throat and an aching body this morning. When I coughed, the phlegm spat out was laden with blood. My head felt heavy too. I lazed in bed a while more before heading to the clinic. Throughout the walk to the clinic till I went to grab a bite at the nearby coffeeshop and then back home, my mobile phone was constantly ringing. Even though my throat was in pain, I had to keep settling work matters via phone calls. When I got home and had my medicine, I was so sleepy but still got to attend to incoming emails or phone calls from work. It is about 7pm now and I can finally rest. My phone has finally stopped ringing and I just settled an incoming email. Boss mentioned before never to get Blackberry else you will be working really hard from home. Well, I think you need no Blackberry to be working from home. Now I kinda regret getting Remote Email Access such that I got to be working so hard even when sick at home. I know I should be resting but everytime I was about to fall asleep, the handphone will ring and I got to scurry out of bed and repy to some emails. I am still sick. Grouchy and tired. I need my DUE REST! Labels: Sick Monday, November 20, 2006 My throat has been itching since this morning. Feeling lethargic too. I know that I am falling sick. If I am having hoarse throat, I will still not be alarmed. Instead, am having painful throat whenever I swallow my saliva. And I only get like that when I am about to have fever or bad throat. Should this condition persist, I will have to be on Medical Leave tomorrow. Attended Komoco Dinner & Dance earlier and it was quite fun. They had a singing competition with the birth of a Komoco Idol. The guy who won sang Hotel California by Eagles. It is a difficult song and I must say that he pulled it off really well. Contest results are based on 30% judges vote and 70% audience vote. And hmm, no prize for guessing right, I did vote for him. Every table was given 10 ping pong balls which we were supposed to drop inside the individual cylinder in front of all 12 contestants. A good win and he certainly deserves to be the champion. I left the dinner about 1030pm while the rest of the Komoco staff were still enjoying themselves. Their D&D is supposed to end at 1am. Good luck to all of them who will be reporting for work at 830am tomorrow. Now, I gonna go shower and sleep. Head is starting to spin. Good night! Sunday, November 19, 2006 Waltz was cancelled today as we were all not keen on having lesson at 10am on a Sunday morning. This means that I can pig out till late today. I sure did and was in dreamland from 5am till 3pm today. That's 10 long hours of beauty sleep and my, I feel so refreshed after that. Work has taken a toil on me for the past few weeks. I can feel my skin feeling more November is a really hectic month as our fiscal year closes this month. It doesn't help that automobile dealers seem to be holding vehicle registration till the last day of this month or even push till December. Common knowledge is that automobile dealers close their year in December and not November like us. Work is neverending and I hate working till 10pm everyday. The day time always seemed so busy with follow up, visitations and phone calls. I can only really start doing my own work after 6pm. ARGH! To make matters worse, I am officially fat. Gained another 2kg due to the late dinners daily. Yah, I usually have dinner at 1030pm on a working day and mind you, it's not your normal soup or biscuits. I usually have a heavy dinner as Mummy will cook. This means your typical dinner of rice, soup, vegetables and meat. All at 1030pm. Can you imagine? Now we all know why I gonna be rolling on the ground instead of walking. As I mentioned to my colleagues last week, I resolved to eat before 8pm every night. Therefore, even if I gonna work late, I shall go grab quick dinner first before coming back office to work. Most ideal will be not to work late and leave office before 7pm. Right. I shall work towards that. I do not even dare to think about shedding the initial 5kg I gained. I am just concerned about putting on more weight. As the stress at work mounts, I am starting to crave for more chocolates too. Yes, I know it is bad but I can't help it. I basically gobbled down all the chocolates in my drawer and I gonna be stocking up more. Well, you see, whenever I worked late and ate dinner at 1030pm, I would still be hungry while working in office. That was when I started munching on cookies or chocolates to conquer the hunger pangs. I had told myself not to eat when I got home but needless to say, I failed miserably. Eating seems to be my only joy amidst the heavy workload lately. It's Monday again tomorrow and I am looking forward to clear any outstanding work. It's Komoco Dinner & Dance tomorrow so I guess I gonna have a sumptuous dinner again. Well, still gonna abide to my resolution of having dinner before 8pm everyday. Wish me luck! Labels: Work Monday, November 13, 2006 Santa Claus visits Singapore this year with a really big announcement. That is, an increase in Goods & Services Tax (GST). With a GST hike from 5% to 7% to be announced in February 2007, our dear Prime Minister when interviewed earlier, said that this was only a start. With those startling words, we all know he means that we should expect to see another round of increase soon. It takes no genius to guess that the eventual comfortable GST is probably 10%. Oh well, welcome to Singapore and to our dear government, thank you for this wonderful Christmas present amidst most of us voting for you in the recent election. Labels: Festival Friday, November 10, 2006  Truly enchoing my emotions now. It was really a sucky day at work today. Been a while since I felt so terrible. Annoyed. Upset. Frustrating. Unhappy. Helpless. Agonised. Does he have to make it so obvious that he is so biased? Now, I so wish that my department head does not leave us so soon for regional office. He may be temperamental at times but at least he is fair and hears our view. And I must say that he is really intelligent with creative ideas. This much, I appreciate about him and I got to admit that he has been a good boss as far as I can tell. I can't say the same for someone else though. GOD HELP ME!!!!! I will be going down tomorrow as it is Trade Day and probably almost everyday throughout the whole event period too. In fact, just got my Exhibitor's pass today which is like quite late already. Anyway, really got to manage my time well for the next 10 days as there is still lotsa work piling in office. It sure doesn't help that I have 2 campaigns running and our fiscal year closes end of this month. Must endure and perhaps can start planning my schedule middle of this month to see if I can get away during Christmas period to Ho Chi Minh. Keeping my fingers crossed! Labels: Events Monday, November 06, 2006 Last 2 Sundays' Waltz lessons were at Cindini Dance Studio. It was a small studio at Hong Lim Complex and mainly specialises Dancing Shoes and Dancewear. The owner, Jessica, was very helpful last Sunday when I enquired about the dance heels. As I have pretty wide feet, I can't go for the strapped satin heels. Instead, got to go for those made of lambskin as they are more comfortable. I tried and got to admit that lambskin interior dancing shoes are so much more comfortable. Was thinking if I should customer-make my dancing shoes when Jessica recommended me their lambskin heels range. Though plain, comfort level is amazing...  I tried the above two pairs last week. Prefer the Champagne Sparkle Leather Dance Heels ($95) to the Pearl Leather Dance Heels ($135), simply 'cos the former looks really elegant with its shimmer. However, because of the shimmer, the exterior is actually made of satin and interior lambskin. As for the Pearl Leather Dance Heels, both interior and exterior are made of lambskin. Now, that explains why the latter is more comfortable and more expensive. Quality really counts. Am at a dilemma now as to which pair to choose. The Champagne Sparkle pair is comfortable and beautiful while the Pearl pair is extremely comfortable though more pricey. Tough choice huh? Any suggestion?!?!? Labels: Dance Sunday, November 05, 2006 It's Sunday night again. Weekends really fly man! Malay Language class yesterday was fruitful. Learning more words now and of course, getting tougher too. The teacher was just telling us to memorise those dialogues he had given us on our notes and he would test us the next lesson. *GROAN* Nothing much after Malay class except to run some errands and to settle my credit card bills. ARGH... I have never been more broke than now. Totally overspent last month and this month's gonna suffer! *SULK* Sundays are usually enjoyable. Today is no exception. Waltz is great with more swing this lesson. More powerful and also got to watch our postures properly. Phyllis' boyfriend watched us and he was quite keen. Hence, he will be joining us the next lesson. So next Waltz lesson will have 3 guys and 2 girls. Now, that's a headache. Hopefully can get another girl to join but I did ask Francis to check with his girlfriend but he replied that his girl is not interested. But WHY? Waltz is so fun and how can she be not interested? *SOBZ* Really hope that she can join us! Had lunch after Waltz and headed to VivoCity for a movie. Caught The Covenant and Laura Remsey looked so sweet. She matched Steven Strait totally. Sizzling hot couple... Now I'm drooling! Anyway, had about an hour and a half to kill before the movie so checked out the White Dog Cafe. Pretty nice ambience and we sat by the glass panel overlooking the sea. Though cosy, I was slightly annoyed when he refused to help me take a picture. Must be because I am fat and he didn't want to ruin the nice picture!  See my AGONISED look?

Apparently my boss did not look very convinced by what I said. Come on, I cherish my leisure and social life too much to be a workaholic. Yes, work is taking a toil on me but it will be temporary due to year end closing. All thanks to the current campaign I am running and its protocol which I have to follow strictly to. I am sure things will improve soon. And hey, I ain't gonna have a mental breakdown 'cos of work! Labels: Work Thursday, November 02, 2006 Though production closed on Monday, I was still very busy. Busy preparing for two upcoming campaigns. As usual, liason and coordination were not easy and I had to come up with a few proposals. Was in office till 10pm today and in fact, just finished emailing a partner. Gonna hit the sack now. Praying hard that the proposals will be approved by partner's management tomorrow and will be ready to roll. I need time to start preparing for marketing collaterals too. We all know work will never end but hey, this is a bit too much. I am starting to have a really monotonous life and I don't wish for that to happen. My face is in terrible shape and my eye bags are so obvious. Am beginning to look like China's national treasure but hey, bamboo is not my kind of food! .jpg) Was racing through my campaign notes & emailing. See the eye bags?!? So much work, so little time.
