Saturday, January 30, 2010 Spoke to Sam earlier and he's interested in learning Salsa. And since I was looking for a dance to practise, it is really timely. Separately, I am also keen to start yoga, and will be asking my colleagues to join too. Finally feeling excited to start activities which I like. I have been eating a lot prior to my customary wedding due to work stress, and from then early December till now, I have gained at least a few kilograms. Weight issue aside, think I should at least start to stay fit/healthy. Really hope that 2010 will not be as hectic as 2009. Keeping my fingers crossed! Labels: Dance, Exercise, Myself Thursday, October 02, 2008 I had contemplated starting my bellydance today but decided against it as I am still quite busy with work of late. Perhaps it is not a bad idea to start only after my November's surgery. But seriously, I need to start using my bellydance scarf SOON! ![]() Well, I shall see how things go and will have to start doing my crunches this weekend. On a happier note, I am catching a movie tomorrow with Hubby and my colleagues. Though I got to work on Saturday, I am still looking forward to my weekend! Monday, September 29, 2008 It's Monday, again. A hectic day. Finally left office at 9.30pm. Another stressful day with that important presentation at 3pm.
Well, on a happier note, it's Hari Raya Puasa on Wednesday, so it's a public holiday! Was asking my colleagues if they wanna go hiking on Wednesday but they don't seem interested. Just thought I should get my fat ass moving and start doing some exercise. Really do not know what come over me the last few days but have been binging on chocolates and junk food. It could be due to my period which started on Saturday. In any case, I feel like a pig. Argh. Am contemplating starting the bellydance this coming Thursday but not sure if it's a good idea. I will be going for my surgery on 6th November, after which will be on at least 2 weeks hospitalisation leave. If I start belly dance this Thursday, I really should try to complete all 12 sessions before 6th November. This will mean going for bellydance classes Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Indeed challenging! Perhaps I should just do crunches for the next one month and after I recover from my surgery, then start my bellydance? Oh no, I can't seem to make up my mind! Sunday, June 15, 2008 Phyllis had her wedding dinner a day after her customary wedding. It is held at Holiday Inn Parkview Hotel. Oh, did I mention that for their second march-in, they waltz in together with 3 other couples! Sunday, November 18, 2007 I was sick and grouchy today and my darling got to bear with my temperamental mood swing. Argh. Anyway, headed to Chinatown for lunch and then to purchase the said Bellydance Hip Scarf in Ruby Red. Lovely. We went Bugis' sistic outlet to purchase tickets for Beauty World musical. Decided to catch it on 5 January 2008. ![]() Am really glad that Roy is accompanying me for the musical and hmm, this is his virgin musical. Sure hope he likes it and we can go for more in future. Shopped around Bugis and got myself a long necklace to accessorise the plain dresses or tops I have. Had dinner at V8 Cafe before heading to Centrepoint's Robinsons to try on this white tube dress. Really love it and decided to get it but unfortunately, they do not have a new piece in my size. The promoter called the main boutique and Bugis and will be transferring the dress over. It's a new piece. Sure hope to hear from the promoter next week, else I will just head to the boutique at Bugis and get it myself next weekend. Most important now is to watch my weight so that I can still fit nicely into the dress for D&D. Roy has been really sweet and telling me to be patient. Am eating normally but still fat. Sigh. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 Started my first session for both Pilates and Belly Cabaret today, at 7.30pm and 8.30pm respectively. Lotsa to rave about now. Pilates Pilates exercises one's resistance. A bit like Body Pump but not as intense. This also means the muscle toning process for girls will be better. Will look defined and toned, yet not bulky. This may seem easy but is far from that. Differs from Yoga. Pilates concentrates on conditioning whereas Yoga concentrates on flexibility. The deep breathing from Yoga makes me feel more serene/zen. However, Pilates really works on one's abs and triceps. Aww, I can already feel my arms aching. Belly Cabaret This is basically belly dancing and really fun. Belly dancing is one dance which I have always wanted to pick up, since last year. Finally, I have time for it. Because Belly Cabaret is an on-going class, the other students already had their Belly Dance Hip Scarf and the golden coins slithering along their sashes were jingling away. May, the instructress, taught a routine and mentioned that every week would differ slightly. Although it was my first time, it was not so difficult. A lot of hip movements and I am pretty sure this Belly Cabaret will tone up one's tummy! Thoroughly enjoy myself today and also looking forward to tomorrow's Yoga class. I am a happy girl! Unfortunately, I have to attend a corporate event next Wednesday and gonna miss my Pilates and Belly Cabaret. It also doesn't help that I will miss the 5th December lessons too as it is my company's Dinner & Dance. Oh well. Must really practise on my own to try to catch up! And I gonna be getting my own Belly Dance Hip Scarf next week! ![]() Labels: Dance Sunday, June 24, 2007 Slept at 6am and woke up at 10am to prepare for Tango lesson. As usual, lesson was quite fun and had lunch at Sakae Sushi @ Wheelock Place with Francis and Qiumei. Valerie was supposed to join us but didn't due to her skin allergy and wanting to go home rest. I was so full from lunch and ate so much! Went shopping after lunch but only managed to comb Wisma Atria. I got myself a pink overalls from Southaven and a belt from Mango @ Isetan. Unfortunately, nothing caught Qiumei's fancy. Anyway, we decided to shop again another time. Honestly, there were lotsa clothes I could have bought due to the sale but in view that I would be going Bangkok soon, I really stopped myself. Was constantly reminding myself that I could get this or that in Bangkok! Haha! As Qiumei was heading home for dinner, I met up with some ex-colleagues for dinner at Glutton's Bay @ Esplanade. Glutton's Bay is the brainchild of Esplanade CEO Benson Puah, who first discussed the idea with Mr Seetoh, chief executive of Makansutra, over a meal of beef kway teow at Katong. Anyway, here's what the 6 of us ordered to share... Roti Toast, to be dipped in Kaya Sambal Kangkong Fried Hokkien Mee Chicken Satays Ketupat (rice cake) & Onion Fried Oyster Omelette Stingray Chilli La La BBQ Chicken Wings We were really amazing as we finished almost all the food. Now, I feel like a real glutton! Glutton's Bay is quite breezy for a hawker centre but I reckon it's because it's near the river. I like the open air concept and is not stuffy like Lau Pa Sat. All the food ordered was quite decent except for the satays, which we feel that the sweet peanut sauce is not so nice. Afterall, it is the peanut sauce that will determine how delicious our local satays are! After dinner, we walked to Marina Square's Coffee Club for coffee. I had a pot of rosebud tea and felt better now. That is, at least not too bloated now. Haha. Seriously, today has really been quite a glutton-y day for me having ate so much at Sakae Sushi during lunch then such a widespread dinner at Glutton's Bay. My ex-colleagues commented I gained weight and I really think I should start doing something about it. I don't wanna keep whining and not do anything about it so I decide not to get started here. Will just try to plan my schedule amidst my hectic working life now to fit in swimming and inline skating again. Keeping my fingers crossed! Thursday, June 07, 2007 Had Latin Cha Cha and Latin Samba today. Could not get to leave office earlier and was 15 minutes late. Was kinda busy today. Also, Latin Samba is just so tough. I can't seem to do the 3-spot turn well enough. Got to try harder next lesson. On a happier note, Anthony was sweet enough to come pick me and bring me to Rochor for "tau huay" before sending me home. In fact, I called him after my dance and he rushed down. Hmm, I do appreciate the nice gesture there! Haha. So, had "tau huay", went home and ate some food too. Feeling so full now! :( Labels: Dance Thursday, April 26, 2007 Started Latin Cha Cha (Intermediate) and Latin Samba (Intermediate) today. Both were alright although the latter was tougher. In fact, both are quite challenging and well, with more viariation, styling and techniques. These two dances are not going to be easy and I really got to make sure I attend every class and not skip any.
Actually, I am very glad that I picked up Latin Cha Cha and made me realise how much I love Latin dances. Salsa is a little different as it is a club dance. I find Latin dances more thrilling and much as many find Salsa sexy, I find Latin dances sexier. What with the right hip movement and styling, Latin dances are such beauties for our watching pleasure. Many friends have asked why I do not go into competitive dancing but well, I guess it's different when it's competitive. I love dancing and it is more for pleasure or as a hobby than for competition. Competitions sound like a great challenge but unfortunately, I don't have a regular partner. It is not easy to find someone who loves dancing as much as I do and who does not mind practising with me. Hence, competitions are out I guess. Nonetheless, dancing is still very much a de-stressing hobby for me and helps me relaxed. As Mandy has gone to The States, we have stopped Tango and will be resuming on end May when she is back. Ballroom dance is another type of fun. Though more rigid, it is really graceful and a joy to watch. Waltz has been wonderful and I am glad we are moving on to Tango. My only regret is that since I broke off with him, I don't have a regular Waltz partner no more. I still remembered how I convinced him to go for Waltz with me and me telling him how nice it would be if we were to Waltz into the ballroom on our wedding day. Well, life is really unpredictable and we are no longer together. It is really better this way now though I still miss the times when we would practise Waltz together. Oh well, memories are always sweet. :) On a happier note, Francis agreed to go with me for rollerblading classes starting next weekend. I am so excited and need to get my wrist, elbow and knee guards. Finally my un-opened rollerblades can have its opening ceremony soon! I am a HAPPY girl! Sunday, April 22, 2007 It has been a quiet weekend. Went for Latin Cha Cha (Elementary) yesterday morning and although I missed the first lesson last week, it was easy picking up. Think the challenge will be this coming first lesson of Latin Cha Cha (Intermediate) which I chose to take concurrently. Am looking forward to it though. Visited 2 places yesterday, both of which I have not gone for a long time. The first was Marina Pier and the second was Bottle Tree Village (near Sembawang Beach). It was really nice and relaxing at Marina Pier, so much so that I forgot to teach him how to waltz although I did promise to. Was just enjoying myself there. Hmm, if we ever had a chance to go there again, I will make it a point to remember ya. Unfortunately, for second destination - Bottle Tree Village, it was drizzling when we reached at late noon. No chance to get out to the beach. What a waste! *FROWN* Had a slack day today too. Wanted to go Wheelock Place to collect my handphone but realised too late about 4.30pm that the Nokia Care Centre closed at 5pm on Sundays. Oh well, I knew I could not make it and lazed around home a while more before heading for steamboat buffet at Suntec with Mummy. Mummy has been working last few weekends and no chance to bring her out to eat. We ate a lot and both of us were so bloated... ARGH! I feel like a piggy this weekend! Eat, sleep, eat, sleep! *OINK*
Sunday, April 08, 2007 It is a spendthrift Sunday today. Met Yanling for lunch at Chinatown Point's Swensen's before heading for our Romantic Escapade treat at Anjana Spa. Treat included a Holistic Full Body Massage (60mins) in a couple room followed by a Full Body Scrub (15 mins) and finally soaking ourselves in Goat's Milk Floral Jacuzzi (20 mins). And because we enjoyed this treat so much, both of us impulsively took up the spa package offered. Haha! Cost $800+ and we will be sharing! But err, heart aching now. :x After spa, Yanling was nice enough to accompany me go A & J Creative Danceworld where I took up their membership since I am proceeding to Latin Samba (Intermediate). Membership is for 3 years and because it is Open House today, if I am a member, can enjoy additional 30% off member price for all courses. Anyway, called Francis to check if he continuing Latin Cha Cha but as usual, his answer was very grey because he needs to consider Linda's views. As such, I decided to take up Latin Cha Cha at A & J since Francis can't make up his mind. Because every dance school's pace is different, I signed up Latin Cha Cha (Elementary) and Latin Cha Cha (Intermediate) concurrently. The Latin Cha Cha (Elementary) starts this coming Saturday at 11am whereas Latin Cha Cha (Intermediate) starts on Thursday, 26 April 2007. This means I can do Latin Cha Cha (Elementary) for 2 lessons first before going for Latin Cha Cha (Intermediate). Keeping my fingers crossed. I was adamant on taking Thursday Latin Cha Cha (Intermediate) simply because the class that follows is my Latin Samba (Intermediate). I wanna do both classes on the same day to maximise my time truly. But with the membership and signing up 3 classes at one go, cost me close to $400. *GASP* As we were held up at A & J, was late for manicure and pedicure appointment at Flaunt! and had to grab a cab down. There was only one manicurist, Jeslinda today. She is quite good although both Yanling and me have to wait patiently because she could only do for one of us at the same time. We were at Flaunt! for 3 long hours before going for dinner at Wisma's Food Republic. Both of us were famished and it doesn't help that while I was buying the Fried Prawn Mee, one of the helpers asked me for my handphone number. I was stunned and utterly embarrassed. Was a tall, lanky guy probably in his late 20s but come on, I was queueing for my noodles and had absolutely no interest in anyone whatsoever. Oh well, when I got my noodles, I quickly scurried to my seat. Yanling was laughing when she heard what happened. Geesh! All in all, was a relaxing day although I spent a bomb. Must really tighten my purse for the rest of the month now. Sigh! Labels: Dance Friday, March 30, 2007 Yeah, went for Latin Cha Cha last lesson today. Was so confused. Afterall, I missed 4 lessons! Francis tried to help but he doesn't really know the ladies' steps. Thank God there is Linda to the rescue! :) We will probably be continuing with Latin Cha Cha (Intermediate) but because I am still quite raw, instructor suggested having one private lesson just the 3 of us (Francis, Linda and me) before we proceed with Intermediate level. Fixed it as next Friday (Good Friday) afternoon about 2pm. Francis and Linda have been informed. I hope they don't back out. As for which studio, to be advised. Am really happy today as I practised Latin Cha Cha today. With Latin Samba yesterday, felt that it has been very fruitful. It is a real joy to dance! Did not go anywhere tonight as I am meeting my SIM friends tomorrow for lunch followed by a spa session with Charmaine. Very bored just now when I got home, so end up, camwhoring... Worn my newly-purchased Turquoise Candy Necklace today. Stylish huh? Labels: Dance Monday, March 05, 2007 Been very busy last few days. Tried Latin Samba for the first time on Thursday and boy, was it tough. Really need to practise. Came home for some retail therapy on Victorias Secret and fell in love with a sexy piece! Hosted 3 Chinese New Year tables on Friday then headed for St James Power House with Charmaine after the dinner ended. There wasa long queue and it was half an hour before we finally got into Power House. I was digging for Cuban music at Movida but thought Power House queue seemed shorter. Anyway, we finally got in after 30 minutes and for the first time in ages, I actually danced non-stop (almost) for 2.5 hours! Good workout I must say. My mini dress was soaked in perspiration when I left Power House. However, it didn't help that I was supposed to chair a briefing session on Saturday at 9.30am. So, I slept at 5.30am after partying and woke up at 7.30am to prepare to head out for briefing. I was freaking tired and I am so sure I looked like a panda. Well, thank god the briefing was short and I met Mummy for breakfast after that. Shopped a little and bought another 2 dresses! Yes, I know I am crazy, over dresses! :( After my mini shopping stint, I rushed home to get ready for Meiqing's ROM solemisation ceremony at Merchant Court Hotel. She was so pretty that day. I took some pictures but because my card reader spoilt, I could not upload pictures to my PC. Got to wait.... ARGH! After the ROM cum High Tea, headed for Annie's little princess Ashley's One Year Old birthday. Very cute baby! Am glad to be able to catch up with Annie a little too. Been so long since I met her. And I was dead tired by the time I got home at 8pm! Sunday was fruitful meeting Val for lunch before heading for Tango class. Francis refreshed a bit of Latin Cha Cha with me after Tango. Afterall, I missed 2 Latin Cha Cha lessons cos of two Fridays' Chinese New Year functions. So sweet of him huh? :) Anyway, Kenneth picked me up after Tango to go for ex-colleague's Edward's Chinese New Year gathering at Seng Kang. It was pouring and we were stuck there till evening before we decided to catch DreamGirls at Cineleisure. The movie is great, especially with Oscar's Award 2007 winner Jennifer Hudson who starred as Effie White. I love musicals and DreamGirls is certainly a movie worth catching. It's been a long time since I rave about any movie and since I am doing so now, you can be assured it's a not-to-be-missed flick! Well, that sums up what I have done last few days and it's work as per normal today. Had a throbbing headache today and went to see a doctor. Will be on Medical Leave tomorrow but I brought my laptop home so reckon I I may work from home tomorrow. Will see how. Hope I feel better soon and since I bought so many dresses, hope I have occasions to wear them... like real soon! Monday, November 06, 2006 Last 2 Sundays' Waltz lessons were at Cindini Dance Studio. It was a small studio at Hong Lim Complex and mainly specialises Dancing Shoes and Dancewear. The owner, Jessica, was very helpful last Sunday when I enquired about the dance heels. As I have pretty wide feet, I can't go for the strapped satin heels. Instead, got to go for those made of lambskin as they are more comfortable. I tried and got to admit that lambskin interior dancing shoes are so much more comfortable. Was thinking if I should customer-make my dancing shoes when Jessica recommended me their lambskin heels range. Though plain, comfort level is amazing... ![]() I tried the above two pairs last week. Prefer the Champagne Sparkle Leather Dance Heels ($95) to the Pearl Leather Dance Heels ($135), simply 'cos the former looks really elegant with its shimmer. However, because of the shimmer, the exterior is actually made of satin and interior lambskin. As for the Pearl Leather Dance Heels, both interior and exterior are made of lambskin. Now, that explains why the latter is more comfortable and more expensive. Quality really counts. Am at a dilemma now as to which pair to choose. The Champagne Sparkle pair is comfortable and beautiful while the Pearl pair is extremely comfortable though more pricey. Tough choice huh? Any suggestion?!?!? Labels: Dance Sunday, November 05, 2006 It's Sunday night again. Weekends really fly man! Malay Language class yesterday was fruitful. Learning more words now and of course, getting tougher too. The teacher was just telling us to memorise those dialogues he had given us on our notes and he would test us the next lesson. *GROAN* Nothing much after Malay class except to run some errands and to settle my credit card bills. ARGH... I have never been more broke than now. Totally overspent last month and this month's gonna suffer! *SULK* Sundays are usually enjoyable. Today is no exception. Waltz is great with more swing this lesson. More powerful and also got to watch our postures properly. Phyllis' boyfriend watched us and he was quite keen. Hence, he will be joining us the next lesson. So next Waltz lesson will have 3 guys and 2 girls. Now, that's a headache. Hopefully can get another girl to join but I did ask Francis to check with his girlfriend but he replied that his girl is not interested. But WHY? Waltz is so fun and how can she be not interested? *SOBZ* Really hope that she can join us! Had lunch after Waltz and headed to VivoCity for a movie. Caught The Covenant and Laura Remsey looked so sweet. She matched Steven Strait totally. Sizzling hot couple... Now I'm drooling! Anyway, had about an hour and a half to kill before the movie so checked out the White Dog Cafe. Pretty nice ambience and we sat by the glass panel overlooking the sea. Though cosy, I was slightly annoyed when he refused to help me take a picture. Must be because I am fat and he didn't want to ruin the nice picture! See my AGONISED look?
Monday, October 30, 2006 I am so happy. We hit the revised target as production closed today. I heaved a big sigh of relief when I heard the wonderful news. At least last Friday and today mad rush was worth it. Every bit of it. PHEW! Oh, did I mention that I went back office to work till 7pm on Saturday? Oh well, I did, just so as to rush production. Am glad we all made it and we will be treating the processing team pizza/KFC tomorrow for lunch. They deserve it! My weekend was awesome. Department chalet on Friday was a rock. Lotsa food. Booze too. I left about 2+am while the rest continued the drinking games and mahjong. Unfortunately I could not stay as I had Malay Language class on Saturday morning. Anyway, the class went smoothly and I headed for lunch before proceeding to office to work. Certainly need to revise my Malay lesson again sometime this week as I had sorta forgotten what was being taught! Sunday was really fun meeting Phyllis for lunch and heading for Waltz together. Waltz lesson was great. I mean, like really FUN! I am already looking forward to this coming Sunday's Waltz. This time round, I asked the instructor to bring me some dance shoes from his shop so that I can choose and err, perhaps buy a pair. Will cost about $70 - $90 but they are good quality. As ballroom dance requires wrapped heels rather than open-toed heels, I guess I just got to choose a pair of wrapped heels that is suitable for wider feet least my toes hurt like crazy. Actually, I overspent this month and November is gonna be a very strained month for me, what with the many birthday celebrations and now the private Waltz sessions. I may have to borrow money from Mummy. Can't wait for my bonus in December when I can clear all my debts! ARGH! Hell yes, I know, I gonna start to save. Trust me. I am genuinely trying. It's just so difficult. But alright, I ain't gonna give up. For a start, will save a certain amount of my year-end bonus then embark on better saving habits in January. Am actually contemplating to cancel one or two of my credit cards. Nowadays, I will nearly faint when my bank statements come. Discipline... Discipline... Discipline...
Tuesday, October 24, 2006 Death Note last night was quite nice. Full of suspense with some twists. However, there was no ending and perhaps it is just me, but I don't like movie with no proper ending! Anyway movie aside, I am feeling quite excited now. I will be starting private Waltz lesson with Phyllis, Francis and Willy this coming Sunday. Just can't wait for it to start! Ballroom dance is much more disciplined than Salsa which is a club dance. Also, it is not as male dominant as Salsa. Of course, the males still have to lead in ballroom dance but basically for Salsa, the male is dominating all the way. Which means to say that, if you have no vibes with your Salsa dance partner, it is quite difficult to dance well. But then again, it's just my two cents worth. Today is a public holiday (Hari Raya Puasa) and I will be heading to town later. Thought of checking out some proper dance shoes though I have already purchased my URS sling strapped heels last week for dancing. Hmm, the sling strapped heels can be used for work though if I manage to get another pair of proper dance heels. Oh well, it's spending money again! Labels: Dance Thursday, September 28, 2006 Had dinner with Charmaine before heading to Zouk Winebar for drinks. Boy, was it crowded and errmm, the crowd was quite cosmopolitan (i.e. lotsa "ang mohs") which both of us were not exactly keen. It didn't help that the bunch of Caucasian men behind us were outrageously chatting up with some SPGs and making so much noise, making it quite hard for Charmaine and I to converse. We were quite annoyed really. Anyway, we had some wine and downed 2 jugs of Vodka Purplehaze. The waiter who served us was boyishly cute and kept telling us he was new. I just smiled. I didn't really feel like talking to anyone else. Finally it got a little unbearable as those guys behind kept inching towards us and we left. We wanted to check out Velvet before heading home but was greeted by a huge surprise outside. Apparently, Zouk, Phuture and Velvet were all full house and there was a sea of people outside. It was the first time I see such a crowd outside Zouk on a weekday. I mean, we have had been to Zouk/Winebar on Wednesdays but it was never like this. We didn't even bother to check out what was with the crowd but was busying trying to push our way outta the main road to get a cab. In the cab, Charmaine kept saying how tired she was while I was just grumbling how I wanna dance but no chance to. Oh well, I have been suffering from dancing deficiency syndrome lately and always yearning for some music to dance. It certainly doesn't help that my friends are no longer the partying sort and would rather spend time with their boyfriends than go clubbing with me. Suddenly, I feel as if I have aged a lot. I miss dancing and I miss partying with the girls. I am contemplating going back to Salsa or Waltz again. Or perhaps picking up Belly-Dancing. Time is always a hindrance and there will be training lined up in October and November, making working hours more tight. I guess I just have to manage my time and try to work out something. Oh yah, took this picture when I got home last night. Was a little tipsy and I think I looked silly! Haha! C'mon... I said I was tipsy, NOT drunk! Sunday, October 30, 2005 Salsa is ending mid November but I am likely to continue. Salsa is fun too but Belly Dance is sorta an ethnic dance and has a different appeal. Contemplating...
