A Cosy Evening

Met up with Jon tonight and it was a relaxing evening. He picked me up, after waiting for half an hour while I cleared my work, then we headed for PS Cafe at Dempsey Road.

It is my first time at PS Cafe and it is indeed a cosy environment. I ordered Sirloin Steak and Jon ordered Fish & Chips. The portion was quite big but nice. Though we were quite full after the mains, we could not resist dessert and ordered their recommended Double Chocolate Cake. It is huge and yummy. We couldn't finish!

Had wanted to go some place to chill after PS Cafe but ended up driving around and chatting in the car. Finally got back about 10.30pm.

It is really a pleasant evening and I can feel that he is genuinely happy for me and Roy. After all that we have been through, I am so glad that we are still friends and the friendship is going strong. He is going through a rough patch now and I hope all goes well for him. All the best, my friend.

12 Years of Friendship

Met up with Meiqing, Valerie and Qiumei for dinner at Royal Copenhagen today. We proceeded to Borders Cafe for drinks thereafter.

It's been a while since I met them and had a great time catching up. We are celebrating Val's coming birthday too, which falls on 1st November. Got her shower gal and body lotion from Crabtree & Evelyn, La Source range. She is a skincare or bath care fan!

Qiumei was a little late as she rushed down from work and still looking good. Her new-born daughter is already 6-month old and I must say Qiumei really maintains her figure well.

Meiqing looks radiant, especially after her recent trip to Greece. She got us some little gift too. So sweet of her. And she is planning for a baby next year. Thus, was telling me she may not be able to attend my customary wedding next Christmas if she has given birth or going to give birth then. Haha.

Val is the same and currently helping a friend on a project while looking for a job. Her 5-year relationship is steady too and who knows, we may hear wedding bells from her soon.

12 years of friendship with these ladies and still counting. To anothwe 12 years babes!

Sun Protection

Because I am quite fair, I get freckles really easily. Although I was contemplating IPL (Intensd Pulse Light) Skin Treatment, I can't bear for my sensitive skin to go through any harsh treatment.

As such, I am forever diligently using my sunscreen or sunblock. And, I definitely need at least SPF50 since I am out of office quite a bit.

So, what is SPF? SPF means Sun Protection Factor using this equation.

Take the time you would normally burn in the sun without protection. 20 minutes would normally produce redness on a light skinned individual. For me, it is about 10 minutes.

Multiply that number by the SPF factor of your product. Example: with an SPF 15 X 10 minutes of sunburn time = 15 x 10 = 150 tells how many minutes you may stay in the sun without burning. 150 minutes divided by a 1 hour of 60 minutes = 2.5 hours of sun protection without sunburn.

Hence, when I say I need SPF50, it is really because I use the formula, 50 x 10 = 500 minutes, which is about 8.3 hours. This is just sufficient for a day at work.

I have tried many sunscreen or sunblock but feel very greasy on my face. But for the last few years, I have only been using the Sunkiller Powdery Milk.

This feels matte on my face and I can immediately put my loose powder thereafter. It does not have a white cast on my face like some products do. And it's SPF50+! This is really my worthy companion throughout.

Well, as I was keen to try other products, much as I have been disappointed many times, I bought a few bottles of the much-raved-about Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF50+/PA+ yesterday. Tried it today and it is really quite good.

It is not as matte as my Sunkiller Powder Milk and I thought it was a little greasy at first. But after 5-10 minutes, probably when the face milk was fully absorbed, my face felt quite smooth. Now, this is a good alternative for me so I need not be so dependent on my current Sunkiller powder milk!

Dinner at Liang Kee & Desserts at Laurent Chocolate Bar

Finally introduced Dear to Jenny today, as my hubby!

We went to Liang Kee @ Robertson Quay for dinner. It is a teochew restaurant and I love the steam fish! After that we proceeded to Laurent Chocolate Bar and had our sinful desserts.

Really caught up quite a bit and talked till 12.30am. Even though these places are so near office, I was quite comfortable actually. Oh yah, showed Jenny our ROM photo album and I can see that she is really happy for me.

I am a happy girl!

No work tomorrow!

It is a lazy Sunday. Had steamboat lunch with Dear's family at his house, followed by manicure and pedicure at Nail Palace.

Dear had to work tonight so I had prata dinner with Mummy after her work. As night fell, I did not feel one bit down though it's Monday tomorrow. And it's because I am clearing my off-in-lieu tomorrow from the one Saturday I worked during Motor Show.

Am going Johor Bahru with Dear and Mummy tomorrow. So excited!

Takashimaya's 15th Anniversary & Saturday Shopping

Went to Takashimaya today as they are having their 15th anniversary sales from 9th - 12th October. For Takashimaya credit card holder, there is additional 15% off regular or sales items.

As Dear and I had wanted to buy a good ~~and big~~ luggage for long trip, we decided to check out this sale. The last time Takashimaya was having a 10% storewide discount, we did check out and wanted to buy this United Colour of Benetton luggage. However, they did not have the colour we wanted so we did not get it after all.

Anyway, we checked out the luggage bazaar at Takashimaya Basement 1 and a surprise greeted us. So much for Singapore slipping into recession and Singaporeans tightening their belts. It was a sea of people there and these people were like purchasing $300 - $400 luggages, probably for their long trips!

Well, we are glad to eventually get ourselves a spacious Pierre Cardin luggage, in Pearl Red. The luggage will be delivered to my house on Thursday afternoon.

After the luggage bazaar, we checked out shoes, watches, accessories and Coach boutique but nothing caught our fancy. As Tangs is also having a sale, we proceeded there. Hongkong celebrity Vivian Chow was there and so many people were crowding around just to see her. The funny part is, Dear didn't even recognise her as she walked past him. When I muttered, "Vivian", he just kept staring at her, till she walked past him. It was quite funny!

I was searching for a white bag and managed to get an Elle leather tote there. In fact, the one I fell in love with was out of stock and I got a bigger one. This range is limited edition and each color/design only has 4 pieces in Singapore, exclusive to Tangs. Although after a 20% discount, it still cost a hefty $200, I am quite thrilled that I finally got a nice white bag. Did feel a bit guilty after that as I thought about how I should be saving. Sigh!

Next shopping destination was to Far East Plaza where I bought 2 three-quarter sleeved cardigans and 2 pairs of low heels. Both Dear and Mummy would always ask me why I keep buying cardigans. Well, I think cardigans are easier to match with all my dresses. The overall look would not be too casual when you have a cardigan on, yet it has a feminine touch without looking formal. I can't say the same for jacket!

After a day of shopping, we then headed to Newton Circle for a feast of Stingray, La-La and Oyster Omelette. I was so bloated after that. And it was home sweet home thereafter.

New Colleagues

It is our Marketing Manager's first day today and there will be an Underwriting colleague joining us on Wednesday.

Though we are still hiring for 2 marketing positions, kinda look forward to having more people in the department. Of course, with work load spread out, the department won't feel so stretched out with work.

Had wanted to knock off by 6pm today but ended up leaving office at 7pm. Another long day tomorrow.

Leighton / Leotern Windproof Umbrella

BHG was having sale from 3rd to 5th October, 20% discount on regular-priced items and 15% discount on sale items.

I had wanted to buy some nice heels but none caught my fancy. Instead, I ended up buying a Leighton / Leotern Windproof Umbrella, in pink. It was retailing at $49.90 and after the 20% discount, cost about $40. Pricey but quite happy about it.

I still remember going Taiwan and Korea with my umbrella and with the strong wind, my umbrella kept giving way. So, since there is a sale now, I decided to buy one windproof umbrella, made in Japan!

Gonna delay my Bellydance

I had contemplated starting my bellydance today but decided against it as I am still quite busy with work of late. Perhaps it is not a bad idea to start only after my November's surgery.

But seriously, I need to start using my bellydance scarf SOON!

Well, I shall see how things go and will have to start doing my crunches this weekend. On a happier note, I am catching a movie tomorrow with Hubby and my colleagues.

Though I got to work on Saturday, I am still looking forward to my weekend!

Nokia 7210 Supernova (Bubble Gum Pink)

Traded in my 6-month old Sony Ericsson W890i today as it was giving me lotsa problems.

The phone will hang suddenly and when people try to call me, it was engaged though the phone was switched on. Then, I would get an influx of "Caller Alert" as people who called my mobile phone were greeted with an engaged tone.

With the problems persisting for the last few weeks, I really had to get a new mobile phone. And fortunately, after trading in my Sony Ericsson W890i for about $200, I only need top up about $65 for my new baby...

Hubby topped up the additional amount and I am so happy. I love the phone and the only thing I can complain about is that this is not a 3G phone. Even when I went to Korea in April, I changed to the Sony Ericsson W890i as it is 3G and my last Nokia 6500 is not.

Oh well, life will never be perfect. But, I am still over the moon!
