Friday, August 31, 2007 Just got home from Cycle & Carriage 7th Month Dinner. We bidded the following items:
Bidded amount need only be paid next year. In fact, if you don't pay, they also won't chase but supposedly it is bad omen if you don't remember to pay. Well, I must definitely remember! Oh, by the way, the item numbers of both items have the same digits. Lucky number eh? Think I will ask Mummy go buy IBET tomorrow! Hehe! Food this year not as good as last year and I had red wine this time round. Our president went with my boss and a few other colleagues. Quite a fruitful session as we got to rapport with our partners. Labels: Events Thursday, August 30, 2007 I kept sneezing. Can't get to sleep. My nose is running. Please, can someone chase it back?!?! Labels: Sick Wednesday, August 29, 2007 It is yet another stressful day as production is closing tomorrow. There is always stress every month end but it seems to get worse every month. Sigh.
New guy, Joel, coming in tomorrow. Bad time. We will be super busy tomorrow. Think our secretary got to help settle him down tomorrow while we battle away. Was supposed to meet uni folks Cheryl and Zijun today for dinner but was postponed to next week. Cheryl was not feeling well and Zijun had a last minute meeting. Cheryl called and asked more about Roy while Zijun was sms-ing me amidst her meeting. It was so funny. My friends are all super concerned about my love life. Perhaps they are worried that I will be left on the shelf. Haha. Throughout both conversation and sms exchange, the underlying question was clear: Why do you wanna date Roy instead of the rest of the other guys who were going after you? Zijun bumped into Roy and me at Cineleisure on Sunday and earlier on over sms, commented that he does not look like someone I would date. She is right. My reply was, "The rest of the guys whom u think I would date also end up being ex-boyfriend, so someone different may not be a bad thing." Of course, it is not just about him being different. There are also certain traits. Cheryl was cute. She asked if Roy was cute. I really don't know how to reply. I think he is average. However, the problem is, my friends are always chiding me when I say whichever guy is so-so when they find the guy cute. Oh well, maybe I can't tell what's cute. *SHRUG* Anyway, end of the day, what's most important is who I am happy with, and I am happy with him. I can't say for how long but at least for now and the past month, I am. As I mentioned before, It still feels like a "First Date", even till now. Am basking in the sweet innocence. :) Monday, August 27, 2007 As I intend to keep my nails long permanently, decide to take care of them more. Was just doing some reading and learnt that to prevent my nails from being dry, I should massage cuticle oil onto my nails daily. The inside of my long-grown nails are quite dry and in fact, I have been applying cuticle oil then using cotton bud to massage. Decided to buy manicure bowl to soak both my hands upon applying cuticle oil (twice a week) for moisturising purpose too. Am even contemplating getting the orange wooden sticks to help push my own cuticles. This also means I have to buy cuticle remover. Because I do my regular manicure and pedicure every 3 weeks, I don't think I need to trim my own cuticles. Argh. Not sure yet. I am so fascinated with my nails of late! Anyway, was just mentioning to Cheryl that I wanna get Nail Tek products from USA and was asking her if she wanna get OPI nail polishes. She seems keen. May order soon! :) Other than nails, I have been obsessed with Avocado Juice/Milkshake too. 3 weeks ago, when my colleague was at Bukit Merah, I asked him to help me buy back a cup of Avocado. So yummy. Then 2 weeks ago, I insisted on having the Avocado milkshake from Four Seasons at Ang Mo Kio Hub. It was not so nice. Last week, while being Cheryl's nail model, I pestered Roy to search for Avocado milkshake for me too and finally after an hour, he returned with a cup for me. Unfortunately, it was still not as nice. So, finally, today, I went down to Alexandra Village Food Centre at Bukit Merah Lane 1, to have my Avocado Juice. Amidst the afternoon downpour. Although I was freezing, I ordered a cup. So tasty! And then, I bought a cup back to office too. So, it's like 2 cups in a day. Haha. Felt so satisfied but kinda bloated. Geesh, hopefully both fascination with nails and obsession with Avocado will end soon! Labels: Nails Sunday, August 26, 2007 Saturday, 25 August 2007 Today is my company's Family Day. Held at Sentosa's Palawan Beach from 9am - 2pm with an Amazing Race Challenge, Telematch, Tug-Of-War, some game stalls, food and drinks, I arrived with Roy at about 11am. It was freaking hot when it suddenly drizzled amidst the afternoon sun at about 2pm. ![]() Was heading for the Sentosa Beach Station. ![]() Cosy sitting arrangement huh? ![]() Were waiting for the Tram to Palawan Beach. ![]() ![]()
Labels: Events Friday, 24 August 2007 Although I did my lovely manicure and pedicure on Saturday, I sacrificed my nails today to be Cheryl's Nail Model. Cheryl used to be a salesperson and currently quitted her job to learn this nail course. For the past 2 weeks, she was asking me to be her nail model and I was rather sceptical. But since it was her exam today and she asked me, I obliged. ![]() Very amateurly done but well, I know she did her best. Some of the nail polish was seen outside the nail. Simple Nail Art done but err, the flowers very big leh! ![]() Actually, not too bad. Just got to get used to it. Think I will let this stay for a week before my next mani and pedi session!
Labels: Nails Thursday, August 23, 2007 Wednesday, 22 August 2007 Went to Mercedes-Benz Center with Boss and his Regional Boss, followed by the other C&C showroom. By the time I got back office, was 12.30pm. Busy preparing some documents then went for late lunch with Charmaine. Not much appetite. My facial appointment was scheduled at 6pm but I was asked to attend a meeting at 5.45pm. Argh. Only reached Beauty 21 at 7pm. Thank God Mary was nice enough and did not chase me off though she was fully packed. Felt so much better after my facial. Went to meet Charmaine at Centrepoint Macdonald for dinner after that. Her facial appointment was at 6.30pm and ended before me. We were both tired. Tomorrow's gonna be a tiring day. Sensitive discussion topic to be raised at work tomorrow. Need to prepare myself. Sigh. To make things worse, I am feeling more depressed cos still fat. Wanna go swim tomorrow but with a 3.30pm external appointment, by the time rush back office to clear work, the pool will be closed. Hopefully can get to do some crunches tomorrow. Was tired earlier so did not do. Boohoo. Yah, I know what you thinking... it's no wonder Jane is a pig! *OINK* Labels: Work Sunday, 19 August 2007 Went to office, cleared some work then met Roy at Sim Lim Square for lunch and to purchase some items as sponsorship prizes. Got a JVC Home Theatre System with 5 Speakers and Subwoofers, 1 2GB ZEN PLUS Mp3 Player and 1 Canon IXUS 70. Decided to lug the items back to office before we went for coffee at the nearby TCC. ![]() Was initially sitting here but Roy got giddy after a while. ![]() We shared this but still could not finish. ![]() Think there is some sweet sauce inside the filling too. ![]() Cripsy!
![]() Dammit. I am FAT. :( Labels: Food Sunday, August 19, 2007 Just got back from Bobby's. Was celebrating Jeff's birthday. Had a feast and shared a bottle of french wine Riesling wine. ![]() bbq chicken quarter, served with baby back pork ribs and king prawns. ![]() 10 oz. of New Zealand imported tender prime rib of beef, slow roasted and served with Garlic Herb Butter. ![]() Bright colour huh? Friday, August 17, 2007 It is already past midnight and another Thursday just swept by. Was busy attending meetings and doing up reports today. Visited Roy at SGH too and happened to speak to his doctor. Confirmed that he did not undergo Tonsillectomy. The doc mentioned that there was an abscess on Roy's tonsils and the doc actually removed that abscess. In any case, Roy was so much better today and ate quite a bit. The doc said that he may be discharged tomorrow if his headache or fever does not attack tonight. Strangely, amidst my busy work schedule today, I thought of JM. Not sure why but he just crossed my mind. I miss MSN chats and lunch together with him. As I have been rather busy of late, I do not even have time to log on to MSN. He used to sms me more often but not anymore. He said it is because he is not familiar with using Blackberry now. Oh well, perhaps it's out of sight, out of mind. *SHRUG* August gonna be busy, especially on weekends with Jeff's birthday this Saturday, Family Day and Subaru's 7th Month Dinner next Saturday and meeting ex-colleague the Saturday after next. Since there is no Tango this and next Sunday, I may consider going inline skating or swimming. Gonna try to exercise and stop being lazy! Speaking of Jeff, he has been sms-ing me daily for the past 2 weeks. I was surprised and sms-ed him to ask why but dear Jeff got all defensive. Me: Err, you have been sms-ing me daily, which is so unlike you. Why so huh? And his reply totally stunned me.
I felt really weird after the whole sms exchange. I mentioned before that Jeff was emotionally unstable and did not know what he want. Yet now he is saying he does. I really don't know. Am meeting him on Saturday because it is his birthday and I promised him long ago I would celebrate his birthday with him. Sure hope everything goes well on Saturday! Labels: Men Thursday, August 16, 2007 Roy's fever persisted and his throat was so sore that he could not eat. Finally, he was referred to SGH (Singapore General Hospital). After seeing the GP (General Practitioner) at A&E (Accident & Emergency) and after an X-Ray test, he was directed to the ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) Centre where the specialist diagnosed him as having Tonsillitis. He had his tonsils removed (tonsillectomy) this afternoon. The way he described the surgery to me sounded pretty painful. Ouch. The doctor mentioned that he needs to be warded for at least 3 days in case of complications. Poor thing. What Is Tonsillitis? Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils. It is caused by either a virus or a bacterium (usually the bacterium known as streptococcus - the same bacterium that causes "strep throat"). Tonsillitis mostly occurs in young children. What Are Tonsils? ![]() The tonsils are a pair of small almond-shaped organs located of the mouth on both sides of the throat. The adenoids are similar to the tonsils but are located in the upper portion of the throat behind the nose, where they can't be seen. Doctors once believed that tonsils and adenoids served no purpose and routinely removed them to prevent tonsillitis. Today these organs may be considered to be the "first line of defense" against upper respiratory infections, which enter the body through the nose, mouth, and throat. An abscess (a collection of pus that requires surgical drainage), or pocket of pus, that forms around a tonsil is also known as a quinsy. When tonsils become so enlarged that a child's voice changes, it is called "hot potato" voice. This is one sign that the tonsils should be removed. What Are The Symptoms Of Tonsillitis? The main symptom of tonsillitis is a sore throat. It may develop either suddenly or gradually. It may be either mild or severe. ![]() Find that it hurts to swallow. If the pain is intense, you may stop swallowing saliva and start to drool. Complain of an earache. Have a fever of 38 degrees Celsius or higher. Complain of a headache. Complain of a stomachache (this is quite common). Complain of general aches and pains, loss of appetite and may vomit. Have bad smelling breath. Because the tonsils are swollen and enlarged, you may have trouble speaking and may even experience difficulty breathing. What Does Tonsillitis Look Like? When tonsils are infected, they will look redder than usual and swollen. A grayish-white or yellowish coating may cover part or all of the tonsils. The surrounding area of the throat near the tonsils also may appear red and inflamed. There may be swelling at the sides of the neck as the lymph nodes grow larger while producing cells to fight the infection. ![]()
The mouth is held open to expose the tonsils. The tonsils are grasped with clamps and pulled toward the middle of the mouth. The tonsils are removed by gentle dissection of the surrounding tissues. Bleeding is controlled either by pressure, sutures, clamps or ties, or with use of electrocautery, a procedure in which heat is applied to blood vessels to seal the ends that have been cut during surgery.
Labels: Random Wednesday, August 15, 2007 Close to 2am and still awake. Had wanted to blog about my Bangkok trip earlier but the photos have not been downloaded from my digicam. My tooth continues to hurt today and I have been taking the prescribed painkiller and antibiotics. Not much of an appetite for lunch today and ended up snacking on chocolates after lunch. This is bad for me. As it is, I need to shed about 3kg and now with the additional 2kg gained from my Bangkok trip, 5kg seems so impossible. Speaking of Bangkok, I got really good value-for-money bargains.
I love my dresses. Of the 10 purchased, 3 of them more casual in floral print. Suitable for beach or shopping. 5 dresses are for work. Smart chic. The last 2 are more appropriate for dinner and hugs nicely on my curves. Lovely. Did not see any nice undies in Bangkok and was surfing VS webby again. Now, I am so into brazilian cut panties. Oh, so pretty. ![]() A sheer beauty with contrast lace trim. Imported nylon/spandex. ![]() Show some cheek in soft, smooth microfiber with cross-dyed trim. Low-rise. Imported polyester/spandex. Labels: Shopping Monday, August 13, 2007 My tooth was aching so badly that I only fell asleep at 5am. Was up at 7am. So tired. Decided not to go to my regular dentist and checked out this dental clinic downstairs. Apparently, there is an infection on the gums at my wisdom tooth area. The dentist said that she would extract for me if I want to. It is the wisdom tooth on the bottom right. 90% grown and she said that it is very likely to be fully grown but not sure time frame. She gave me 2 options. If she extracts my lower wisdom tooth, she would have to extract the fully grown upper one too. If she does not extract my lower wisdom tooth, she would prescribe me antibiotics to treat the infection. I chose the latter. Cos I know that my bottom right wisdom tooth has been growing for 2 to 3 years and I have endured the teething discomfort since the beginning. Just that there is an infection now and I need to get it treated. Dentist mentioned that there was food around the area which caused the infection and reminded me to brush my teeth all the way right inside so as not to neglect the wisdom tooth. This sure is a valuable advice. Got to ensure my teeth is thoroughly brushed. Amidst the scaling and polishing today, the dentist noted a cavity on my upper pre-molar. Had it mended too. Was prescribed 2 types of antibiotics, painkillers and a bottle of antiseptic gurgle wash. In fact, just took my medication and tried the mouth wash. Now my mouth feels a little numb. So, I was given medical leave today to rest. Have an important lunch meeting tomorrow. Hope that all will go well. The lunar 7th month starts today and gonna be a tough month for the car market. Car dealers are having their annual 7th month dinners as usual. Well, just hope that this month will not be too slow least I will be stressed out on production again. Labels: Myself Roy is down with super high fever. I am worried. Hope he recovers soon. I am grouchy too and can't get to sleep. Because my wisdom tooth is acting up. Did not extract it 6 months ago as it was not pressing on my nerve. But now, it's aching. To make matter worse, this month is Dental Month or something and my dentist's schedule is fully booked. Earliest slot is Tuesday evening. Argh. Labels: Myself Sunday, August 12, 2007 Just got back home not long ago. Caught broadway musical The King & I with KThia earlier. Headed for Insomnia @ Chijmes for some drinks and rock music after that. ![]()

Went for the launch at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. Cycle & Carriage cordoned off the area and it was very cozy inside. The new Mitsubishi EX was finally unveiled at 4.45pm. The red colour is the nicest. White is not bad too. Labels: Events Thursday, August 09, 2007 Got back from Bangkok last night about 11.30pm. Will blog a little about the trip soon. Labels: Myself Friday, August 03, 2007 8 more hours before my flight to Bangkok. Gonna hit the sack now! YEAH! Will be back 5 days later!
Forgot to add that I met Willy for quick dinner earlier before heading back to office. Been half a year since we met. He seems fine and busier with his work. Good for him. Anyway, was looking through what I penned down earlier during the brainstorming session. Sorta have a framework now. But I am tired. Going to sleep. Will continue tomorrow. More work tomorrow! GAMBATTE! Labels: Work Just got home. Left office about 10.30pm to meet Charmaine at the 24 hour Coffee Club, to brainstorm on the Strategy Paper which I had to submit tomorrow. I am so tired now but thought I better blog since I probably would not blog tomorrow since my flight on Saturday is at 6.30am. Will be busy packing my luggage and sleeping early tomorrow. Was intending to take second half day leave tomorrow but doubt that can actualise. Think I will shower after this blog then work a little on the Strategy Paper. Will be helping Charmaine do hers too since we discussed together and I will just add on for her channels. Target to complete the paper by lunch time tomorrow then hopefully I can clear some work after lunch and leave office early before 5pm. Am praying hard there will be no delay. Two weeks ago, I was so looking forward to my coming holiday in Bangkok but now, I am feeling otherwise. There is so much to plan and activities to follow up. It is really a bad time to go on leave. How I wish I am staying in Singapore. I hate backlog, especially loads of it. Argh. Well, think I better go shower now then work on my paper. I am so tired... 11am: Hotcakes with Sausage Meal from Macdonald 2pm: 1 Cup of Bubble Tea and 1 Packet of M&M chocolates 6.30pm: Fried Oyster Omelette, Satay, Rojak and Cheng Tng 10.30pm: 1 Ice Mocha with Vanilla Ice-Cream 11.30pm: 1 Cake and 1 Pot Rosebud Tea Exercise: NIL Labels: Work Wednesday, 1 August 2007 Was busy trying to work out this month's production budget and it certainly did not help that I am projecting a $3 million shortfall. Boss would not hear of it but I just could not get the $15 million he wanted. Argh. To make matters worse, I was asked to do a Strategy Paper for Boss just this afternoon. And because he just learnt that I would be on leave next week going overseas, he just came over and told me his presentation is on 13 August 2007 and for me to give him the Strategy Paper before I go on leave. Geesh, this means that I have to complete the paper for him by Friday and I have absolutely nothing to work on. Was burying my head in churning up production figures after he broke the bad news to me once more. We had department meeting at 6pm. Not too productive. I was so stressed and kept thinking about what Strategy Paper Boss wanted me to prepare. Sigh. The underwriters left for Sabrina's farewell dinner after the meeting. I did not join them. Was trying to finish up the production estimate. Not too optimistic. Finally left office about 8.30pm and had dinner about 9pm. I know I am stressed. Because I headed to Cold Storage after dinner and bought lotsa ice-cream and chocolates! Eh, wait, what did Boss say again? Strategy Paper... What?!?! 1.30pm: Seafood Broth, Sirloin Steak (Medium Rare), Tea and Chocolate Ice-Cream 9pm: Prawn Bee Hoon Soup and 2 BBQ Chicken Wings 10pm: Ice-Cream Exercise: NIL Labels: Work Tuesday, 31 July 2007 On course today. Structural Behavioural Interview Workshop. Very effective. Taught me how to interview candidate more objectively. First, got to list down the core competencies for the job, followed by zooming onto specific questions to ask candidate. The best thing about this workshop is learning how to direct your candidate to what you wanna know when he/she strays from topic. and to gauge candidate's competency to the job scope. Also, some candidates tend to give very general answers, which can actually be rehearsed. This workshop really taught us how to ask specific questions so that candidates can genuinely answer from experience and not made-up. Anyway, we went through some theories then the last 2 hours was role-playing with 3 persons in a team. Every individual will have a chance to role-play as an interviewer, an interviewee and an observer. Hmm, this workshop has been a true learning experience for me. 8am: 4 Chicken Sausage Franks and 2 HarshBrown 12.30pm: Rice with Beancurd, Pork and Egg 7pm: 1/4 Bowl of Rice, Pork, Vegetables and Soup 8pm: 3 Seeds of Durian Exercise: NIL Labels: Work |
