Went Johor Bahru today to buy mooncakes and also to shop around. Below is a conversation between him and me while we were heading there.

Me: Do you think I am fat?

Him: No, I don't think you are fat.

Phew! I smiled.

Him: But I think you are round.

Ouch! That hurt... but I kept my cool.

Me (smugly): Well, round is a shape. So at least I am in shape!

Him: Yeah, just like fishball is round too.... Miss Fishball?

ARGH!

I felt so much like boxing him then.... and I started sulking. He then coaxed me and made me laugh by cracking some dumb jokes.

I hate being fat, or round, or.... WHATEVER, I GIVE UP!

Now I gonna mope in misery and go to bed crying And not forgetting to wallow in self-pity about how round I am!

As I weighed myself less than 5 minutes ago, I realise to my horror that I tipped the scale at a weight which I dread the most. I am officially 5kg up from the initial weight when I started my current job in December last year.

Losing 5kg is the last item on my Wish List and I really hope to start doing so now. I know that all talk and no action is useless. For a start, I am targetting 3kg. 5kg seems so far away for now.

I know that I have not been exercising and I resolute to do my crunches daily from today onwards. Next will be my chocolates and ice-cream intake. Well, I know I can't stop snacking completely but I will at least control myself to have chocolates or ice-cream not more than twice a week. Wish me luck!

I bought a book recently to find out more about the Atkins Diet. I really do not want to starve myself trying to lose weight. I think Atkins Diet may have some good advice on how I can shed some weight. Will read the book this weekend.

Meanwhile, I will continue to remind myself how fat I am now and that my pants or skirts feel so tight now. I NEED to at least be able to fit into my clothes instead of buying bigger-sized clothes! Discipline is the word here and it shall start NOW!

I simply can't resist. Yes, I succumbed. To the Birkie's temptations. Presenting my irresistable loot.... TADA!

Jasmine is ordering from Birkie's again and though I have a few pairs already, I am still tempted. Narrow down a few but due to budget, can't get all five pairs. Thinking of either 1 or 2 pairs.

Hmm, which is the nicest of them all?

I am surprised by how customer-oriented hospitals have become. Even government aided hospital. Two days ago, I got a card from SNEC...

Took these pictures on 4 September, a day before my surgery. Thought I will capture myself in spectacles for the last time, till a long long time later at later.

I woke up this morning to be greeted by the clarity of my surroundings.

The teddy bear on top of my cupboard was smiling at me and for once, it did not look blur.

I could see that my table was quite messy. Quite clearly.

The red light at the bottom of my TV beamed fiercely, telling me that I had forgotten to switch off the main switch last night. The red light was quite distinct.

Everything around me was so clear and for the first time, I awoke from my bed with clear vision without the help of my spectacles.

I smiled.

The follow-up consultation at SNEC took 5 minutes and Doctor Wee said that my eyes were healing well. He then scheduled my next follow up consultation in a month's time. Instead of the usual 1 week. I was delighted.

I then left SNEC with Mummy who had kindly accompanied me there at the expense of her beauty sleep. We went to Takashimaya as we wanted to have Tim Sum at Crystal Jade. Unfortunately it was only 930am and no eatery or shop was opened. We searched around Orchard for some food but failed. Eventually we headed back to Yishun and ate at a nearby coffeeshop.

It felt so good to see everything clearly once more as I had been having blurred vision the last few days while recuperating from the surgery. As mentioned before, I did not feel anything during Tuesday's surgery but I made an effort to recall what the doctor did to me yesterday. It is still quite vivid to me.

At the Laser Suite, as usual, I donned on the surgery gown, cap and also shoe cover. The nurse first applied anaesthetic solution on my to-be-operated right eye. She then dipped cotton bud with iodine and cleaned both my upper and lower eyelid.

Doctor Wee checked my cornea and made some marks on my right eye. He said the mark was for the astigmatism as he needed to know exactly which angle. I was then held gently into the operation room and asked to lie down.

The lights above were glaring as before and just like Tuesday, Doctor Wee asked me to search for the red light and covered my already-operated left eye.

Next, I was instructed to look up at him and he pasted some plaster-like thingy to pull down my lower eyelid. He did the same for my upper eyelid. After that, he used a somewhat pincer-like object and placed it between my upper and lower lids. It was supposed to open my eyes so as to make the surgery easier. There was no pain and as I mentioned before, it in fact felt quite comfortable. Almost like stretching my muscles.

At this juncture, I was supposed to keep both eyes open but it was quite difficult as the lights above were so bright. I heard Doctor Wee say that he was going to black out my vision for a while and asked me not to worry. When I saw nothing in front of me, I wanted to close my eyes but was instructed to keep looking forward. This was the difficult part. It was really hard to keep my eyes opened and I struggled. Discomfort sank in.

"No worry. Hang in there. We are just removing some things so that we can do the laser," Doctor Wee remarked. "You will be able to see soon."

Gosh, removing what? I felt that they were trying to scrap my cornea. It was not painful but it seemed quite scary the way they put it.

True enough, as confirmed by the doctor, my vision soon came back and the red light was above once again. It was a small red dot, then it blurred, then there was a green patch of light below it. This time round, I stayed focused on the red light.

I then heard Doctor Wee's voice telling me that he was gonna do the laser and asked me to focus. The red dot grew bigger, became a patch and blurred. I smelt something burning and Doctor Wee assured me that everything was alright.

Suddenly, I felt my eyelid being brushed down. I supposed that during LASIK, the cornea was flapped up and now the doctor was brushing it back. The thought of brushing back the cornea was quite errie yet amusing. A drop of antibiotics solution was then dripped onto my operated eye and they removed the pincer-like thingy and also plasters on my upper and lower lids.

It was over. Phew. It was different this time round as I made a point to note every procedure instead of being so nonchalant like Tuesday. Mummy was just telling me that I should just be nonchalant and I would not feel scared.

In fact, I was not scared. It was not painful either. But when one thinks about what the medical personnel are doing to his/her eye(s), he/she can't help but freak out a little. Though I did not freak out, I was still really amazed. Nonetheless, all is over now and goodbye to contact lens / spectacles!

Operated my right eye 6 hours ago. Left eye is already perfect vision, except when I look at near objects. Doctor Wee said that it will be perfect eyesight when my right eye regained clarity. Am wearing shades now while typing cos find the PC screen too glaring.

Just can't wait and want to blog. I am so excited. Will be having perfect eyesight soon. Because I did not feel anything when I went for LASIK surgery on Tuesday for my right eye, I made it a point to be more conscious of what the doctor did or said to me during today's operation. Will be blogging more details on the LASIK procedure tomorrow when both my eyes clear.

Tomorrow follow up consultation is at 830am and Mummy is going with me. After that we will be going for breakfast together. Now counting down to a perfect 6/6 vision!

Hey! I am online! Surprised? :)

Well, I am looking at my screen with my unoperated right eye now. Haha. Operated on my left eye yesterday noon and a follow up consultation this morning with Doctor Wee shows that my cornea is healing well. However, it is still not prefect eyesight for my left eye. At least not yet. Doctor Wee mentioned that it was common especially when I have an astigmatism of more than 200. Nonetheless, he congratulated me on how fast my left eye is healing and expressed his surprise on it too.

Now, many of my friends have been asking me about the LASIK procedure and my answer is "I don't feel anything."

Well, at SNEC, I submitted my appointment card at the cashier, paid for my left eye surgery and medication before I waited outside the Laser Suite. My name was soon called and I went in. The nurse applied some solution on my left eye and I was asked to wear the plastic gown and plastic wrap over my feet and sandals. Doctor Wee then checked my left eye before I was urshered into the surgery room. I lay down, quite comfortably I must say, and they covered my right eye.

Doctor Wee placed something on my left eye to push my eyelid open. "Right, this was supposed to be the painful part which Daniel told me yesterday," I thought to myself. But to my surprise, it was not painful at all. Not even uncomfortable. In fact, I felt quite comfortable as if the doctor was trying to stretch my eye muscles for me.

I was then asked to look into this infra-red dot above me. I was supposed to keep my right eye open too but unconsciously, I kept closing my right eye and Doctor Wee got to keep reminding me to keep both eyes open or it would be more difficult to focus. I think my cornea was flapped up soon after and I experienced a blackout. Doctor Wee pre-empted me on this and assured me that I would get my vision back soon and should start focusing on the red dot.

When the darkness cleared, my left eye found the red ray but kept straying away from it. The area around the red dot was so glaring. It hurt my eye to look at it and there was some ray of green light near the red dot which kept distracting me. Doctor Wee kepting talking to me and reminded me repeatedly how crucial it was in this surgery to focus on the red dot. My eyes were not very obedient but I tried my best to focus one last time as Doctor Wee remarked that it was the final step where the laser will be beamed into my cornea. I stayed focused. On the red beam. Both eyes. I was tearing. Then, it was over and Doctor Wee added the anti-biotics drop onto my operated left eye.

The whole procedure probably took about 5 minutes. My vision was slightly blurred while walking out of the surgery room and I sat down inside the suite. The nurse started instructing me to add the re-wetting drop every 15 minutes till I went to bed after which I can continue every hour after I woke up. After that, I could use generously as and when my eyes feel drop. There was also the anti-biotics drop which I was supposed to apply every 4 hours for 1 week. She then informed me to wait outside for the doctor to check my eye once more before leaving.

After about half an hour wait outside the Laser Suite, my name was finally called again and Doctor Wee examined my left eye. He said all was well with no complication and he would see me the next day. I then headed home after that. My day went fine with no discomfort except that I had to apply rewetting drop every 15 minutes which is quite a hassle. Nonetheless, I followed the instruction diligently.

So, now, back to how I feel and if LASIK is painful. Answer is there is nothing to feel, at least for me, and no, it is not painful at all. It seemed just like any other activity like writting, swimming etc. It is just the after-care that requires more attention and diligence. If this little bit of care can give me a perfect eyesight, why not?

Well, I am certainly looking forward to operate my right eye tomorrow afternoon!

Yah, am going for my LASIK today. On my left eye today and right eye on Thursday. I had completely no emotion about this surgery till yesterday when I was at one of the showrooms. One of the salesmen told me he did LASIK a year ago at SNEC and was telling me about the whole procedure and how painful it was for him when the doctor forced his eyes open! However, he said it was worth it since he has perfect eyesight now.

Then, there was a Finance Manager whom I spoke to and he was telling me how glaring it was for both his sister and mother after they had done LASIK. He mentioned that they wore shades anywhere they went but still find the surrounding very glaring. Uncomfortable too.

Oh well, even after hearing all these, I am still determined to go for the surgery. Afterall, no pain, no gain. It will definitely be worth it.

Annie was really sweet to sms me yesterday to wish me well for LASIK.

Met up with Florence last night to catch The Devil Wears Prada. Kinda like the show and helps to relax me a little just the night before my operation. Anyway I slept late last night. Woke up late and now gonna be preparing to go SNEC now.
