Went for facial today. At Beauty 21. Getting concerned over the rising number of freckles on my cheekbone area. Checked with my beautician, Mary on intense pulsed light (IPL) for pigmentation removal but she advised otherwise. Was just telling me that many of her customers went for such treatment and yes, pigmentation was removed almost instantly but came back after a few months, and even worse. After which they had to go through even more expensive treatment and also get really pricey skincare products to revive their skin condition. She also mentioned that freckles can never be totally removed, only can be lightened with regular treatment and proper skincare regiment. Was advising me not to waste the money to fall for such gimmicks by some skincare specialists. Better to keep constant care and maintain.
Am currently using Lancome Pure Focus Moisturising Lotion but it is without SPF. Had tried moisturiser with SPF before but it made my face so oily that I stopped. And this also means the growth of freckles! *groans* Anyway, Mary recommended me to use UV Expert Protective Make-up Base SPF 20/PA+++ over my moisturising lotion. SPF20 will not be good enough for outdoor activities but for daily usage should be sufficient to protect. Well, I got a bottle and would start using tomorrow. Definitely MUCH cheaper than IPL.
I trust Mary's words. Have been with her for 4 years and really leave my face to her. Most importantly, she never hard-sells. In fact, she just recommends and if you don't want it's fine. I had been to many other beauty salon prior to Beauty 21 and always been made to use their products or to sign on some packages. Sighz.
I still remembered my first session at Beauty 21. Mary merely briefed me on my skin condition and asked if I have been using moisturiser daily. I said yes, once a day and she just told me it was not enough and should increase to twice as my skin is lack of moisture. She then asked me to continue using my usual skincare as it was suitable for my skin from what she had observed. I was shocked. She totally did not tell me anything about her products! It was also after a few sessions that I asked her on her salon's products then she shared with me but still did not ask me to purchase. There is totally no pressure. And I really appreciate such genuine service. Oh yah, she did a pretty good job on plucking my eye brows to maintain the shape too. Very pleased.
