Tuesday, 31 July 2007 On course today. Structural Behavioural Interview Workshop. Very effective. Taught me how to interview candidate more objectively. First, got to list down the core competencies for the job, followed by zooming onto specific questions to ask candidate.
The best thing about this workshop is learning how to direct your candidate to what you wanna know when he/she strays from topic. and to gauge candidate's competency to the job scope. Also, some candidates tend to give very general answers, which can actually be rehearsed. This workshop really taught us how to ask specific questions so that candidates can genuinely answer from experience and not made-up.
Anyway, we went through some theories then the last 2 hours was role-playing with 3 persons in a team. Every individual will have a chance to role-play as an interviewer, an interviewee and an observer. Hmm, this workshop has been a true learning experience for me.
