Wednesday, March 29, 2006 Alright, I shall stop whining about looking like a pig, gaining so many pounds and having a waist so thick. Action speaks louder than words and yes, it's time for some real workout! Oh well, the nearest choice will be Gallery Hotel. ![]() Both fitness centre and pool look pretty good there. Well, the fitness centre is not that fantastic but the pool is cool. It is cantilevered with side glass which actually allows one to easily view the city landscape while swimming underwater! ![]() This fitness centre is decent enough... ... at least for an amateur like me! ![]() It is indeed tempting and I will check out what package they have. After which, errmm, I should get my butt out of my seat and start to burn some fats! Labels: Exercise Monday, March 27, 2006 I woke up grudgingly at 8am, yearning to get a few more winks but Willy was already waiting for me at 8.30am. I only got ready at 9am and we headed for Johor Bahru. Surprisingly, there was a jam and by the time we got inside, we were famished and immediately had a late breakfast. We then proceeded for Kota Tinggi Waterfalls. I have seen numerous lovely waterfalls but never got to soak or play in them. This time round I did, for the first time. And the feeling was so good! The water is chilling yet really awakes me. The gushing currents thrill me so much. I feel like I am in a cold jacuzzi bath. The crystal clear water feels so good as it drips and splashes on me. Though Kota Tinggi Waterfall is not a big waterfall, this first time experience left me craving for more such nature-like sensation. ![]() ![]() ![]()
![]() Yummy LOBSTERS! ![]() Up close... .. and DROOLING! ![]() ![]() ![]() Still very much in tact. Look real right?

Actually just got out of bed! Sunday, March 26, 2006 1) One year older officially puts me in my mid-twenties 2) More susceptible to wrinkles, implying more facial sessions. 3) Slower metabolism rate, implying 4) More 5) More friends around me get married or start talking about marriage. And errr, I usually do not know how to participate in such related conversations cos I am certainly not getting married soon! 6) Grandma/Aunties/Uncles start asking me when I am getting married and reminding me that I really should settle down soon. Argh... I really feel like hiding away everytime they go into THAT. 7) Peers around me advance or move on in their careers. This never fails to nudge me likewise. But well, I have just started my current job 3 months ag,o so will just wait for my confirmation. 8) A year older for me will mean the same for Mummy. Age is taking its toil on Mummy and this means I have to shoulder more responsibility. Must really pay more attention to Mummy and spend more time with her. 9) Aside from spending on my hair, face, clothes, bags and skincare products, saving is crucial now. Must really manage my finances better! 10) I have been having eye infection for a few months now and will probably go for LASIK if this continues. 11) Really got to take good care of my health with my regular supplements and must remind myself to take lotsa fruits and vegetables. Regular check up to the doctors too! 12) Knowledge is strength for me. I want to pick up some new concepts and will contemplate taking up some exams to learn more. 13) Party less (which I am doing so now). 14) Start getting serious in relationships. No more heartbreaks. 17 March 2006 Met Val, Meiqing and Qiumei for dinner at Cineleisure Suki Sushi. Not too bad. I was late cos had a meeting prior to meeting up. Dinner was good but most important is the catching up session. They got me something but Val forgot to bring, so still waiting for Val to pass me my birthday pressie! Oh by the way, Meiqing's boyfriend proposed and she said would be going to ROM next year. So happy for her and errmmm, she did hide it pretty well. 20 March 2006 Met Yanling, Cheryl and Zijun for dinner at HMV Marche. As usual, Cheryl and Zijun are late but Zijun is the latest. She came at 8pm though we were supposed to meet at 7pm. Can't blame her though cos she finished work at 7.30pm. Poor girl is always so busy. That's the price to pay to work in an events company. Yanling, as usual is the earliest and gave me my birthday pressie which the three of them share. Some Lancome night cream which I had requested. Hehe! I am practical and will rather the girls get me something I can use. Anyway, we shared Smoked Salmon Rosti, Calamari, Chicken Crepe, Vegetables and Banana & Ice-Cream Crepe. So yummy! After that we headed for Starbucks at Orchard Building and chatted till 11+pm. As confirmed, Cheryl will be the one to organise the next gathering and next person's birthday will be Zijun's on 1 July. Till I see them again. Thanks for the wonderful evening ladies. 22 March 2006 Was just sms-ing Keith if he wanna have dinner and as usual, he is so sweet and agreed to meet me. He picked me up about 7.30pm and we went to Majestic Restaurant at Bukit Pasoh Road. The food is fantastic and so is the ambience. Started our meal with wasabi prawns and Peking duck served with foie gras. The latter tastes so yummy! Next was followed by the tenderloin beef and it is indeed so tender. It just melted in my mouth. Last serving was this steamed fish which was like 1kg. It is huge and we shared. Very fresh and the sauce tastes so good. And we were so bloated by the time we finished the fish. Well, at least I am. Keith did mention later on while having gelato at Greenwood that I have a good appetite and ate a lot earlier. Hmm, perhaps he just wanna say I am a pig. Oh well, I admit I am one anyway. OINK~ All in all, was a pleasant dinner. Thanks for the company Keith! 23 March 2006 My 2 managers treating another marketing colleague, Charmaine and me, to lunch at Ikoi Japanese Restaurant at Hotel Miramar for buffet lunch. It will be PIGGING OUT time again! 24 March 2006 My birthday! Will be going to Johor Bahru to have seafood and to shop. May have other plans on the day. Will update again. But basically it just means more food for me! 25 March 2006 Meeting my dear friend, Jenny to dine at the newly opened PS Cafe. Been a while since I last catch up with her. Will probably chill out and may go party after that. Look forward to seeing her and of course to check out a new dining joint. 26 March 2006 Mummy said we shld go out as a family to eat. And buy Birthday Cake for me to celebrate. Oh well, I don't know if my stomach still have space for any food. Haha! 27 March 2006 Monday Blues but Charmaine and me convinced our Portfolio colleague to treat us to birthday dinner on that day. Poor Michael Ti! And did I mention that a few other friends did sms me on meeting up sometime next week too for meals? Now that will be MANY POUNDS gained! Monday, March 20, 2006 Oink! Oink! Yes, I am a pig. The aftermath of working late for the past month and having dinner after 10pm daily. I can feel my tummy bulging and it doesn't help that I have not been swimming and doing crunches. Alright, gonna start disciplining myself by first doing some crunches in the morning before breakfast. And once more at night before I sleep will be desirable too. The former is absolutely necessary though. Swimming once a week will help too. Gosh... really must abide to it. Anyway, I have been eating a lot of late cos been meeting up with friends or relatives to celebrate my birthday. Just had dinner with my secondary school friends on Friday and will be meeting my SIM friends tomorrow. As usual, Yanling is so sweet as to organise the dinner tomorrow. Honestly, if not for her, I doubt we will get to meet up cos Cheryl and Zijun will not bother. I mean, yes we are pretty good friends but they just won't take initiative to organise a gathering. I guess they are busy. But then again, aren't we all? Well, end of the day, at least I will get to meet them. And yes, I gonna keep gorging during the upcoming birthday meals till after March! Oink~ Labels: Myself Saturday, March 18, 2006 Today is the 19th of the second lunar month, the day which Chinese celebrate the birthday of the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, or Kuan Yin. Coincidentally, it is also my lunar birthday today. Sharing the same birthday as a Goddess, many relatives and friends have always deemed me as one blessed child. Well, no matter what, I always see myself as a fortunate person being physically well and with loved ones around me. Kuan Yin is considered to be the feminine form of Avalokitesvara, the bodhisattva of compassion of Indian Buddhism whose worship was introduced into China in the third century. In China, Kuan Yin is usually shown in a white flowing robe, and usually wearing necklaces of Indian/Chinese royalty. In the right hand is a water jar containing pure water, and in the left, a willow branch. The crown usually depicts the image of Amitabha Buddha, Kuan Yin's spiritual teacher before she became a Bodhisattva. Being the Bodhisattva of Compassion, it is believed Kuan Yin has the power to relieve suffering and bestow prosperity; women having trouble conceiving pray to Kuan Yin for children. Kuan Yin is sometimes depicted as having one-thousand hands, each with an eye, enabling her/him to direct a compassionate gaze on all of the world's misery. Statue of Kuan Yin on Mount Putuo, China Devout followers of Kuan Yin may frequent local temples and make pilgrimages to larger temples on important occasions or when they are burdened with a special problem. The three yearly festivals held in her honor are on the nineteenth day of the second month (celebrated as her birthday), of the sixth month, and of the ninth month based on the Chinese lunar calendar. I come froma Buddhist family and though I am not a staunch Buddhist, I do believe and abide by certain reglious beliefs or traditions. Today, Mummy made some offerings to the Kuan Yin statue in my house and she even wanted to cook me noodles with red eggs to celebrate my lunar birthday which I rejected immediately. Vegetarian noodles in soup is the traditional food that marks Kuan Yin's birthday and red eggs are usually given during Chinese's birthdays. Well, eventually we went to Causarina Curry for prata instead. Yummy! Tuesday, March 14, 2006 Visited my eye specialist again with regards to my eyes. Actually 2 months ago before Chinese New Year, I did visit Doctor Tun and was given some medication to treat my eye infection. 2 weeks later, my eyes got better and I started wearing lens. Hence, at least I looked better without my glasses during Chinese New Year period. Unfortunately, the eye infection came back after another 2 weeks. It was really infuriating. I take good care of my eyes. Will wash my hands with Multi Purpose Solution before putting on my contact lens. Will cleanse my lens casing with the solution. I also changed lens case every month and I do not use my Solar Care Multi Purpose solution for more than a month even if there is plenty left. Cautious as I am, my eyes are still not spared from the surrounding bacteria. This is really so frustrating. Anyway, I brought my contact lens down yesterday when I visited Doctor Tun for the second time. Found out that my left lens has protein deposit. My lens are still pretty new about 4 months old, hence I decided to send for servicing. Did the tear drop test and diagnosed that I have dry eyes. Well, this time round I was given this antibiotic solution called TOBREX Sterile Ophthalmic Solution, also to be used for 2 weeks. I should recover after 2 weeks and will be able to wear my contact lens again. However, this time, I gonna be using lens rewetting drop to make sure my dry eyes are well lubricated. Very troublesome but I am definitely willing to try. Anything just so that I won't continue to look so nerdy in my spectacles! Blah! ![]() ![]() Saturday, March 11, 2006 Thank God It's Friday! Been a while since I feel so happy that it's a Friday. Had dinner and coffee with my marketing colleague Charmaine and an ex-colleague, Gin, who is leaving for New Zealand this Sunday. Gin will be joining her hubby at NZ for 1.5 year. To be a Tai-Tai. Lucky girl. Well, actually, quite a sacrificial cos she left this job to be with her spouse. Speaks a lot on the bond and love shared by this blissful couple. Gin does want to have a baby soon too and this is indeed good chance and timing. I mean, afterall, in this company, with the work load and stress level, you will hardly have time to plan for a baby. Honestly. Anyway, am really in a uplift mood today. The catching up sesssion was good though we chatted a lot about work stuff. But I gonna admit that I am also really pleased that my hair is much nicer than before. You see, I went to my hairstylist again yesterday for hair treatment. In fact, I rushed down in a cab cos was caught in a meeting with my boss and the salon closes at 8pm. I reached at 7.30am and guess what, Tom re-permed my hair for me upon hearing from me that I want fuller curls. At no charge. He was just telling me that most important is a happy customer. Of course, I still got to pay for my hair treatment but I tell you, this trip back is totally worth it. I love my hair now! ![]() Absolutely adores this look! ![]() ![]() ![]()
Wednesday, March 08, 2006 Anyway, back to March being a joyous month. Well, somehow, I am usually quite lucky during the month of March and things are more smooth sailing for me. And I am usually busy. Busy meeting up with old friends. It's usually during birthdays that we girls have excuses to meet up and I always look forward to it. Will be catching up with my secondary school friends next Saturday on 18th. Qiumei, as always, is very sweet to organise this and I am really eager to see her, Val and Meiqing again after so many months. Was just chatting with Qiumei on MSN some days back and she sounded so much happier and I can't wait for her to share with us the reason for her happiness when we meet up! This year, I do wonder if I will get to meet my SIM gal friends. Usually I am the one who takes initiative to organise gathering but I really don't wish to be the one to organise my own birthday gathering. If they remember then good, else I will just take it that they are busy. As for my JC gal friends, I hope to meet up with them too but all are so busy. Will just see how things go. Have not seen Florence for so long and will be good if we can all meet up again. And I wanna take more photo stickers, especially now that I have a new hairstyle! Really quite excited now and certainly relishing this particular month which is so significant to me. By the way, I took leave on my birthday itself. I am gonna make an exception and not answer any business-related phone calls on my birthday. This is a promise I make to myself and I certainly hope to abide to it. It shall just be peace and laughter for me on 24th. No work matters please. Enough said. Labels: Myself Friday, March 03, 2006 Was down with flu and slight sore throat, hence decided not to go work. Visited the doctor and had lunch before deciding to visit a hair salon for a haircut. I usually go to my own hairstylist but I really can't stand my hair anymore and thought "What the heck... might as well just get a haircut here in Yishun!" I was browsing through the hair salons at Yishun Central but was not very convinced by what I saw. Just when I thought that I should just go visit my hairstylist instead, I heard a voice called "Wanna cut your hair?" I turned to find a lady in her mid-thirties talking to me. She was just in front of a hair salon I walked past. I nodded and she quickly ushered me in. This young hairstylist, Tom, tended to me. Just as I sat down, I said nervously, "You better do a job else I will surely freak out. I just have no time to visit my own stylist." Tom laughed and replied "No worry." "Hmm, actually I wanted a new look but was afraid of doing anything to my hair since I have natural straight hair." I spoke aloud. "Oh yes, you do have really straight hair but a perm will make your hair looks good. Give it more body, since your hair is so fine." "But... my face is so chubby, won't perming make my face rounder?" I replied anxiously. "Of course not. I will show you some magazines." Tom then handed me some magazines and flipped to some pages with models donning long permed hair. Looked really flowy and nice. Just then, I did not know what came over me and I just said "Alright, I shall perm it then." And the process started. Japanese Perm, since I did not want too exagerrated curls and Japanese Perm is supposed to let you have natural wavy curls only. He washed my hair first, cut, permed, trimmed again before doing the protein treatment. Throughout the whole 2.5 hours, I was really jittery. I kept wondering how I would look like. Oh well, actually, it was not so bad. Yes, it felt funny that my straight mane of hair has curls now and it was kinda like a wet look. In fact, honestly, I kinda like it, especially the cut fringe. Goodbye straight mane! ![]() Japanese Perm, or so Tom said! So do I look like a Japanese girl? Haha! ![]() Francis said this pair of glasses made me look nerdy. And I thought it was funky! ![]() Posted this picture to show the contrast of before and now! Hee... I still can't believe I did it! Labels: Myself Wednesday, March 01, 2006
Labels: Shopping Just scanned the studio photos in recently though it is like so long ago. Haha! Here goes. ![]() ![]() ![]() I was so relieved when this morning presentation ended. Yes, there were questions bombarded but my boss helped a lot. The other managers did contribute too. All in all, I am just glad it ended. Both my managers congratulated me on doing a good job but I did not really hear much of it. I was really exhausted. The guys went for golf while I joined the ladies for lunch before heading back to office to clear some work. Well, at least I was given half day off tomorrow and need only report for work after lunch. But then again, I am expecting my phone to start ringing from 9am onwards and I can't switch off my mobile! Anyway, now finally more light-headed and this means time for shopping! I received my Birkie's yesterday and they are really gorgeous. I absolutely love The Florida in Pop Energy Birko-Flor from Papillio. Now I have more Papillio slip-ons for the weekend! And will probably be getting these from Victorias Secret:
