At the Eleventh Hour

My week has been crazy. Working till midnight almost everyday. And no, I am no workaholic but because I am still relatively new to my job, I have lotsa to pick up. Not that I am complaining. This job is a great challenge and no one can imagine my exhilaration when my team finally hit production at the eleventh hour. Can finally close all my files and heave a sigh of relief on Thursday before packing up at 6.30pm to head for dinner with a friend. Well, next month will be another challenge but meanwhile, just gonna enjoy the Chinese New Year holiday break.

And surprisingly, this CNY, I have not gotten any new clothes, which is really amazing for a reknown shopaholic. Today, on CNY Eve, during the eleventh hour once again, I went speed shopping. Got 2 tops and 1 skirt. Thank goodness I already have 2 skirts which I bought sometime ago but did not wear. So, finally, I am all ready with my CNY clothes. Haha. This must be the only year which I have been too preoccupied to go for my CNY shopping.

Perhaps it's CNY Eve and I'm totally relaxed. So much so that I am also shopping online. Purchasing Birkenstock online. Aren't they lovely? :)

Arrival of Spring

Time flies. Gonna be Chinese New Year in a week time. But as I grow older (yes, I am old), I come to realise that Chinese New Year is no longer that big an affair as it is to me 20 years ago. With many cousins, aunts and uncles, visiting during Chinese New Year period has always been a bustling activity for me since young. Over the years though, I see less of my cousins during the Chinese New Year gatherings and even if I get to see them, usually for a short while only. Some are married, some are attached and others just out hanging with friends. Gone are the days when all of us will just stay around for the whole day chit chatting, eating and playing cards or mahjong. Now, the arrival of spring is just like any other day and not forgetting a good excuse for me to receive ang pows (red packets).

Well, I partied last Chinese New Year and hope to be able to party again this year. Perhaps not with the same person but well, at least there has to be somebody. Work has been really busy and has yet to party for a long while. One month to this new job and still learning. New challenges and cracking my brains everyday. Nonetheless, I am enjoying every moment of it.

Oh yah, in celebration of the coming Chinese New Year, I met up with my ex-colleagues yesterday for a lunar new year dinner at Harbour City Restaurant located at PSA Building. Food is not bad though a little on the steep end (yes, expensive for a 8-course dinner). But well, at least we get to lao yu sheng for the first time this year. Ladies, to a more prosperous year ya. Cheers to the arrival of Spring!

Embrace the Sun & Bask in the Warmth

After 2 weeks of continuous rain, the sun is finally shining again. And so brightly today. As I stepped out of home for breakfast this morning, I am really embracing the sun and basking in its radiating warmth. I know, that soon, I will be starting my swimming regiment. And err, my gym bag is still awaiting for me to start its opening ceremony.

Last 2 weeks have been so chilling and it does not help that I was working late and practically shivering in my freezing office. Even when I was on the way back home in a cab, I was cladded in my jacket. Now that the sun is burning again, just enjoying every moment of it. Oh yah, with sunblock of course. :P

Alright. Dear BEACH, I will be hitting you soon! WoOoHooo!

Rules from the male side

We always hear "the rules" from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side.

Breasts are for looking at and that is why we do it. Don't try to change that.

Learn to work the toilet seat.
You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

Saturday = sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.

Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way.

Crying is blackmail.

Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
JUST SAY IT!

"Yes" and "No" are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.

Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.

If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.

Welcoming 2006

Finally bade goodbye to 2005 and welcoming 2006 with a warm hug. 2005 has been quite a year, at least for me. In all aspects. There are namely two unexpected changes in 2005 that left a great impact on me. The first will be my sudden switch in job to a completely new industry. Another will be eventually comprehending my feelings on a particular American Chinese guy. Someone who sent my emotions on a rollercoaster ride.

Amidst the Christmas and New Year gatherings, friends and relatives had asked me how my new job was coming along and if I liked it. My answer is the same for everyone. I am new to the job and year end is a time where many are clearing leave so learning from colleagues is limited. Can only fend for myself for now but hope will improve when the full force is in starting this Tuesday. I can't say my new scope is easy but it is definitely challenging and challenges thrill me. Beat boring routines and predictable situations anytime.

Emotionally, I am very much settled and calm. The tranquility is amazing. Have lotsa activities to keep myself occupied too. Will definitely be picking up bellydancing. As for continuing with Salsa or Japanese, I decide to monitor my workload this month to see if I really can spare the time. Nonetheless, I am sure 2006 will be a more eventful and colourful year for me.

Here are ten 2006 resolutions.

Save at least 10% of my monthly paycheck.
Sleep before 1am every weekday.
Do not be late for work or any appointment.
To listen more to others and to speak less.
Do facial mask at least twice a week at night.
Either swim or gym once a week.
Start bellydancing by March 2006.
Meet up with good friends once in 3 months.
Remind myself of all my friends' birthdays.
Bring Mummy to monthly facial session.
