Valentine Day 2011

Celebrated Valentine's Day with Hubby today. Although it's a Monday, Hubby made reservation at a restaurant in Dempsey Hill and we dined out. The place is called Dempsey House and we had our dinner at the Barracks Cafe there. Apparently, Barracks is renowned for their pizza and desserts.

Had an enjoyable dinner and here are the dishes ordered:

1) Grilled Prawns with Cauliflower Couscous - This is an appetizer. Prawns were fresh and the Cauliflower Couscous is especially unique. Non-fattening!

2) Ginger Butter Chicken Pizza - The pizza is very thin but very cripsy. The ginger butter chicken on pizza was really yummy. Generous portion too. Now I know why they are renowned for their pizza!

3) Lobster Linguine - We like the taste of this linguine. A little spicy or peppery yet leave a lingering taste. I will order this again if I were to visit next round.

4) Pandan Jelly Sponge - Hubby had this for dessert but I did not try. He said is nice and apparently, this dessert was on most food blogs' rave.

5) Bitter Chocolate Tart - Ok, I may be biased here but I absolutely love this! I love bitter chocolate and few places sell bitter chocolate dessert. This is rich, bitter and served warm. Thinking of this now makes me salivate, if you get my drift.

We made reservations from 6pm to 8pm, so after our dinner, left about 7.45pm. As I needed to exchange an item from Centrepoint Robinsons, we headed there. After the errand which took like less than 5 minutes, we settled ourselves at Haagen-Dazs and shared an ice-cream. A sweet end to our Valentine Day 2011, just the two of us.

Many "FIRST"s in 2010

It's the last day of 2010 and I can't help but reminisce on the happenings during the past year.

I have had many "FIRST"s in 2010 which had been very exciting, and fruitful for me.

1) My first flat, co-owned with Hubby, renovated and furnished to our liking. Although we bought the place in 2008, we only renovated and moved in after our wedding in December 2009. Finally we have a place we can call home.

2) My first time to Europe, for my 3-weeks honeymoon. I have never been to Europe and for our honeymoon, we went to London, Brussels, Austria, Italy (Venice, Florence, Sorrento, Capri Island, Rome), Switzerland (Lucern and Lugano) and Paris. I especially like London, Rome and Paris. If there is a chance, I will definitely go back again.

3) My first time training my staff from scratch with full mentorship. I finally learnt that in order for me to move and advance, I must have a VERY STRONG team, so with the new hire in March, I really put much effort in mentoring and training her. And with another staff's resignation in September, I am also doing my best to provide the necessary mentorship to this new hire who joined the company in October.

4) My first pregnancy. When I went to see my gynecologist for yeast infection during early August, the nurse heard my last menstruation date wrongly and did a pregnancy test on me, which tested positive for pregnancy. It was a shock to me and Hubby as I only stopped contraception in June and in fact, wanted to continue contraception again in August due to overwhelming work commitment on my end, hence not ready for a baby. Well, I guess it's destiny and we are very happy with this bundle of joy coming our way. So, I am a Mummy-To-Be and my expected due date is 10 April 2011 when I should see my baby boy.

5) Our first car, a 3 year-old Citroen C4, registered under Hubby's name. In view of my pregnancy, we decided to get a car. With the help of Mummy who loaned us half the selling price as down payment, we got this vehicle and took a 3-year loan. Hubby is servicing the car loan while I am repaying Mummy on the downpayment amount. I am glad we got the car as Hubby's workplace is really far and the car really helps a lot. Most importantly, as my pregnancy progresses, I try not to take public transport and Hubby has been fetching me. At times when I do take cab, due to the "F1 wannabe" drivers, I feel really sick too. Hubby has ben very accommodating in sending me to work and picking me up from work.

6) My first time doing prenatal massage. This is a completely different experience from the usual massage. While it is very expensive, I do enjoy the massage very much. Have been going diligently every 3 weeks and should be going every 2 weeks nearer towards my due date.

7) My first time experiencing acne outbreak (chest, back and face), swollen feet, extreme weight gain, fetal movement/baby kicks, water retention, appetite change, food preference change, lower backache and sciatic pain. All in the spirit of awaiting for my baby boy to come to this world.

8) My first adventure on baby stuff shopping began with the little life inside me. Shopped and bought stroller, car seat, baby cot, playpen, bedding sets etc. It does take lotsa readings and findings before a parent can decide the buys. Been really interesting.

Christmas 2010 in Malacca

Since I badly wanted to go for a short trip this Christmas to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and Hubby's Birthday, we decided to have a short getaway in Malacca. While I would have preferred to board a plane to go somewhere to make it feel like a real holiday, many have been telling me not to due to my pregnancy. Oh well, I did heed others' advices afterall.

We drove up to Malacca on Christmas Day morning via the Second Link. Mummy and cousin Sharon tagged along with us. The drive was less than 3 hours but due to the massive jam when we reached Malacca, we only reached Hotel Equatorial after 5 hours (yes, we were "trapped" for 2 hours from Malacca checkpoint to hotel).

It was a relaxing trip and I did enjoy myself eating and spending time with Hubby. We stayed for 2 nights and left Malacca on 27th after lunch. Drive back was smooth and we had early dinner in Johor Bahru about 5pm before heading back Singapore.

Super frustrated. Heavy rain causing heavy traffic at CTE. And I got to exit CTE to the nearest mrt station to continue my journey to work on mrt.

Goodness. I seriously suspect that the poor drainage system on Singapore roads is a deliberate attempt by the government to discourage driving and for us to just support the local public transportation system!

Finally sorted out my wedding photos (nearly 700 pictures) and uploaded them. Next up will be honeymoon photos. I hope I can be faster on this and not to procrastinate on the Europe pictures.

Will be a busy week starting tomorrow. Lotsa to do. Really lots. Anyway, there is a department trip coming up which we are all going KL. I will be on Batch 2 which is from 24th - 26th July 2010. Hope it's fun, especially when I have to miss celebrating dear Florence's actual birthday.

Intend to take half day leave on Friday to celebrate Jon's birthday too, amidst my busy schedule. Hope he appreciates it man! Haha!

Weekend without Hubby

Hubby got to work night (10pm - 8am) on the last 3 days, and been sleeping in the daytime. As such, I have been pretty much without Hubby this weekend.

Went for Scalp Treatment again yesterday although I went last Sunday. Yesterday's treatment was more for cleansing. Usually, after Scalp Treatment, I will feel my scalp is very clean for the next 1 - 2 weeks. But today, I still feel my scalp is really oily. Prior to my Europe trip, I have had no time to go for my Scalp Treatment for a month and after the 3 weeks in Europe, I think my scalp's condition is very much worse off. I am likely to go for treatment again next weekend.

Other than the Scalp Treatment, I also went for my Classic Mani+Pedi. Feel much better after that. Had dinner at Pasta Mania with Hubby before I went to the hair salon. I seriously do not know why Hubby can still think of eating pasta after our Europe trip!

And it was strange last night without Hubby by my side and I only slept about 3.30am. But I sitll woke up at 8.30 this morning to have breakfast with Hubby. He was sleeping like a log thereafter when he got back. With nothing much to do, I went to Northpoint to purchase the Fried Rice Paradise musical tickets from Sistic and was shopping around. The mall was not too crowded as it was about 11am. I bought an Adidas sling bag, in Gold and a pair of slippers. Then came back home to catch a show and surf the net.

As Hubby needed to go to work, we called and had KFC delivery. After eating, I went with Mummy to Northpoint. Bought museli bars and yogurt. The former is to replace the M&M chocolates and Meiji Yan Yan which I ran out in office. Yogurt is for breakfast this coming week. I am seriously trying to watch my diet.

Well, that's about it for my weekend. Time to hit the sack. Night!

I am BACK!

Ok, I have been neglecting this blog. Was away for my honeymoon in Europe from 13th May till 31st May 2010 and when I got back to work on 2nd June (rested a day on 1st June), work has been so overwhelming that I am having dinner at midnight.

For the past few weeks, Hubby has been sorting out our Actual Day wedding pictures and also our Europe Honeymoon pictures. I should be posting them next week, and yes I know that this is way belated. But better than forgetting totally ya?

So, other than being super-duper busy with work, I am also super annoyed and upset that I gained 5kg from my Europe trip. All thanks to the pasta, ham, bread and cheese! The first week I got back, I lost 2kg upon watching my diet and cutting down on carbohydrates. However, due to working late nights and having really late dinners (and chocolate-snacking in office) thereafter, I am back to square one, which is 5kg heavier than when I leave Europe. Argh.

Anyway, I decided to blog today as a reminder to myself. To STOP the late dinners and for late night working, will just have museli bars and that's it. Also trying to have a heavier breakfast so that I can still continue my light lunch which is now mainly soupy stuff. I know it's the late dinner which is killing me, and I need to work on STOPPING it.

On the way to meet the girls at Ion's Taste Paradise for dim sum and worrying that I'll pass the flu bug to Phyllis. Supposed to be celebrating her birthday today and because she's pregnant, should be more vulnerable?

Anyway, I'm late to meet the girls as I went to buy Clarinase, had some coffee before taking the clarinase. Hopefully when I meet them later, I'll be fine!

Manicure without nail polish

Went for manicure and pedicure after my hair treatment this afternoon. Although it's a mere two weeks since my last spa mani+pedi, my nails were really dry.

Thank God my finger nails were not yellowish, so I ended up doing classic manicure without applying nail polish. For the feet, still got to polish the nails as they were a little yellowish. Pink for the toe nails after my pedicure.

Hmm, although my nails are clean, I still feel funny that my fingernails were not painted.

Hectic Friday

Was having fever since 2 nights ago and was really struggling last night in office. Unfortunately, still got to rush in office today for an external 4pm meeting. Reached office at 2.20pm, prepared for all the materials, left office at 3.30pm, meeting from 4pm till 5.30pm and back to office about 6pm. It was a crazy day.

Anyway, I was really too tired and finally left office at about 7.15pm. Met Hubby at Tampines One's KimGary for dinner. Thereafter, Hubby went to work and I took a cab home.

Mid Week

Times flies. It's Thursday again tomorrow, Yoga day. It has been a tiring week, mainly because I am not feeling well. Nonetheless, looking forward to Yoga tomorrow.

During dinner earlier, Mum was just telling me about the medical check up she had in the morning. Healthy. This brought us to talk about our weight and height, also the Body Mass Index (BMI). Then I realise that just a few years ago, my BMI is in the middle of the healthy range and now, I am tipping at the higher end of the healthy range. This means that if I do not watch myself, gaining a few more kilograms will mean that I may end up being overweight!

Now, I am more motivated to check out more Yoga class or even starting Pilates.

Facial & Nails

I brought Mummy to Ann for facial today and when she came back after her facial, I was shocked. Ann really cleaned up Mummy's face with really thorough extraction!

Actually, I was at Mary's for my facial last week but after seeing Mummy's face, I feel that I need to see Ann soon. Till date, she is the only beautician whom I know which does the most thorough extraction; that is if you don't mind the redness and slight scars for 2 to 3 days. Usually after that, the face is clean and smooth like a baby, and absolutely no scar! Think I will book an appointment with Ann for first week April.

On a side note, I went for nail re-painting today and realise that since it's my birthday month, I can take advantage of the 50% off for spa services during my birthday week. So, gonna go for spa manicure and pedicure on 27th, just nice for Val's wedding!

New Shoes!

I bought a pair of new trainers today!

I may not be too sporty a girl but generally when I travel or go on a holiday, I prefer to wear shoes, nice ones of course. The last pair of adidas bought looks nice but when I worn it, cut onto the back of my feet. Ouch. Same problem with the red puma ones I had. ARGH.

And because I am going to Europe for my honeymoon in May, I definitely need a pair of good shoes. So, when I was at Royal Sporting House earlier, I saw a pair of pink Nike Women's trainers which fits what I want. Colour is trendy enough (suits all my pink clothes) and it looks sporty too. Most importantly, it is not just a pair of dress shoes, but I can also wear them for running/jogging.

Into the iPhone family

Ok, I got myself an iPhone (yeah, I know you are probably saying FINALLY). Well, am not a big fan of the iPhone due to the poor battery span, but since I am getting it free, I thought I will just give it a shot. If I really do not like it, I can always trade in or sell half a year later.

So, anyway, I switched provider from M1 to Singtel as I am truly pissed at M1 for this lack of customer retention. I have been with M1 for many years and main reason is because I like my mobile number. Now, with true number portability, I am glad that I can finally make the switch. The 3GS iPhone in 32GB is supposed to cost $98 if one takes up the 3G Flexi Plus plan @ $95. But if it's switched from another provider to Singtel, you will get $100 off your mobile phone. So, I thought I stood to gain.

And guess what, I got a shock when I saw the queue at Woodlands Causeway Point's Hello Shop. When it was finally my turn, I finally knew why. It was the last day Singtel is having promotion for the 32GB iPhone going at $0 if customer takes up the 3G Flexi Plus plan, be it recontract or new line. Think this is due to the IT Show. So, it was really no difference for me and when I asked if I can use the $100 off mobile phone to purchase accessories (since the iPhone is already at $0), as expected, the answer was a no.

To conclude, after an hour there, I am the proud owner of a brand new iPhone 3GS 32GB, in white. Also a Singtel mobile line subscriber.

As the iPhone is notorious for its poor battery span and for me, I spent lotsa time on the mobile phone with clients or business partners, I definitely have to think of contingency plan. So, contemplating getting the Mophie Juice Pack, the rechargeable battery case for iPhone 3GS. It acts as a phone casing too.

Mummy is now an 'Elderly'

Mummy turns 55 today, and is now in the 'Elderly' category. And coincidentally, today is also the birthday of Sze Keat and Angela. There are so many 13 March babies!

Roy and I brought Mummy to Crystal Jade for late lunch and we had lobster ee-fu noodles there. It was GOOD! Thereafter, Mummy bought a Bonia wristlet from Metro which I paid for. As a birthday gift for my dear mummy. However, did not bring my digital camera out today, so no photos.

I am glad to be able to spend the day with Mummy.

More Yoga Classes

On our way for yoga earlier at Tanjong Pagar CC, we saw a banner on daily yoga class at The Yoga Shala which is located at Yan Kit Road.

And since I thought my once-a-week yoga is not enough, I came home to google on this yoga studio. Hmm, they actually have unlimited lessons at $360. For a start, I should contemplate the 10-class coupons at $240. May be better. And just in time before I go for my honeymoon in May.

The good thing is that the studio is quite near my office so I can go for the 7pm class any weekday.

Anyway, before I make a decision, since I am at Tanjong Pagar area, I should check out all the dance studios there first for other option, if any. Wish me luck!

delicate petals, a scent from VS Secret Garden Collection

I have been using body lotion from Victoria's Secret for about ten years now and have always raved on the lotion texture. Whenever I tried using other brands (think Body Shop, Crabtree & Evelyn and Lancome) body lotions, I would feel my skin to be really sticky after application. Till date, the VS Secret Garden Collection's body lotion is the one that upon applying on my skin, feels a little moist and eventually smooth.

However, last week, I opened a new bottle of body lotion, also from Secret Garden Collection, but it's a new scent, delicate petals. Well, it's not new to VS but it's new to me as I've never tried this scent. And err, not sure is it the weather of late or what, but my skin feels a little damp and sticky after I apply. And this stickiness lasts throughout the day. So, I have switched to using this bottle of lotion at night and when morning comes, at least my skin doesn't feel too sticky, especially with the aircon blasting on me throughout the night.

Having said that, am not sure is it the texture of the body lotion has changed or what. For a decade, I have always stuck to a few traditional scents, to the likes of 'love spell', 'strawberries & champagne', 'pear glace', 'endless love' and 'pure seduction'. The 2 scents which I do not like are 'amber romance' and 'vanilla lace', not because of their texture but due to their scent. I find 'amber romance' too strong with the smell of sandalwood. As for 'vanilla lace', I find it too errm, vanilla-ish? Oh well, individual preference.

Anyway, after I finished this bottle of 'delicate petals', I shall try a new bottle of the usual scent I use and see if the texture is the same. I sure hope that the quality remains.

Hearty Paws & 10 Promises To My Dog

I watched this movie called Hearty Paws about three years ago. I still remember how hard I cried throughout the movie. And not sure why, but since a few months ago, I have been thinking of watching this movie again.

For those of you who have not caught this movie, you should watch it. I like another movie too, 10 Promises to My Dog which was shown in June 2008.

Freaking Hot Weather

I am burning. It's really hot. I wish I can stay in my room all day, in my air-conditioned bedroom. But well, I still went ahead for my brother's housewarming at Punggol today. After the housewarming, Hubby and I went to Compass Point but nothing much to shop there, so headed home.

And while I am typing now, it is still hot in my study room even though the fan was switched on. Amidst this hot weather, am actually thinking of trimming my fringe but not sure if I will look chubby with bangs. The last time I had short fringe was when I permed my long mane. I thought the short fringe looked nice then. But now, without perming my long hair, not sure if I will look nice with short fringe. In such a dilemma now!

Slept late today, watched Mio TV movie with Hubby at home before going for buffet dinner at Hilton to celebrate Mother-In-Law's birthday. There were 8 of us and the buffet was japanese. Mummy joined us after her work and both Mummy and I ate lotsa sashimi!

After the dinner, while the rest went home, Hubby and Mummy accompanied me to Ion Orchard to check out the Singtel Hello Shop. Was contemplating to buy the Nokia N97 Mini or Nokia X6. Both did not catch my fancy. Think I may have to end up buying the iPhone though I am not so thrilled at the pathetic battery span. The only consolation is that, if I port over from M1 to Singtel, I get a free 32GB iPhone and I can then set aside about $200 for the extra phone charge and battery to support the poor iPhone's battery lifespan.

Hmm, I need to think about it.

Yoga & Work

Yoga session was great today. We ate first before going for Yoga, which I thought was ok but Ai Hwa said she felt funny. Haha.

Work is busy as usual with me out on visitations in the morning and meetings from noon till evening.

New girl seems to be adapting well and hopefully she can pick things up soonest possible. Then, I can go for my honeymoon. Afterall, I do not want work to be undone when I am away and honestly, I don't wish to be checking emails whenever I am on holidays.

Just got to know that Jon is dating, through his blog. I wonder why he did not tell me. Perhaps he thought that I would not like the idea? Well, all I can say is, as a friend, it that's what makes you happy, I will always give my blessings.

Mixed feelings. I really wish him well in this relationship and most importantly, hope that he enjoys the process. However, because he can be quite emotional, I do hope he handles whatever comes in his stride.

The past 1.5 year has not been too good for him and I think it's time it gets better. 2010 should be a good year for the good things to start. Not just for him I hope, but also for all my friends. Afterall, it's March now, a happy month.

Generally, I am always happy whenever it's March. Not just because it's my birthday month, but also because that's a month where my friends sorta "settled" in their jobs or their family/love lives.

As I had mentioned before, year end and Chinese New Year period is always very sentimental. People break up and get together. For those seeking other career opportunities, it also always happens in March.

Not forgetting too that March is also Mummy's birthday. Her birthday will come first then mine. All in all, I am just glad that it's March and time for relaxation and fun with friends!

I worked late last night and tonight. Tired. Ate chocolates while in office and dinner when I got home about 9.30pm. At this rate I am going, gonna keep gaining weight. Thank God for Yoga on Thursday.

There's department meeting tomorrow, so I may stay in office to clear some work there after. My new staff came in on Monday and seemed to be adapting well but I got to slowly hand things over to her.

Was just telling Boss yesterday that I would be going away for 3 weeks in May and 2 weeks in September. Her reply was to train my team as quick as possible so that I can really go and have fun. Easier said than done. Nonetheless, I will still try.

Suddenly, I thought of going back Bangkok to pray. Although my trip is only in September, I feel so much like going back now. Has been a while since I visited a temple. I really should visit 四马路观音堂 soon.

Pleasant Surprise from a colleague

Just less than a month ago, Jon was telling me about Evolve MMA and I was actually interested. However, the thought that no one will join any course with me sorta stop me thinking further. Then today, Ai Hwa passed me a pamplet on Evolve MMA and asked if I am keen. She even mentioned that it's at Chinatown and very near our office. Geesh, I was surprised.

Ai Hwa and Sok Hui had already enrolled Yoga together with me but for the courses at Evolve MMA, Sok Hui is not keen and asked us to go ahead without her.

And so, Ai Hwa and I ended up checking out the pamplet. We thought that FightShape and Muay Thai are pretty cool. Personally, I do like Yoga but there is only couple of Yoga class a week. Sigh.

Anyway, Ai Hwa's friend gonna helped us enroll a trial session first to see how it is before we decide.

It is the 15th Day of the Lunar New Year, also known as 元宵节. Am feeling so loved and blessed today. Although Hubby got to work tonight, he went to buy pandan leaves and ginger this afternoon to make 汤圆 (dumplings) for me.

Woke up late and went for lunch with Hubby. Then when we got home, I was busy uploading photos on facebook and I resoluted to start blogging again with all those belated entries.

Then, during the late afternoon, I went for manicure and pedicure while Hubby stayed at home to do the laundry. He is really sweet. After the nails were nicely done, we went for dinner then back home. He continued to watch TV while I continued with the pictures uploading on facebook and blogging.

Well, at least my blog is updated now! :P

Going Central Europe for honeymoon

Hubby met me at Tanjong Pagar Exchange to have dinner at Lerk Thai before going for the Natas Fair. Actually, we already know which tour to book and going for Natas Fair is really for the credit card deal.

Anyway, we reached Singapore Expo about 8pm and gosh, there was a queue going in. We queued for about 20 minutes before getting in. Surprisingly, it was not too packed inside, probably due to the vast space. The whole Natas Fair took up 2 expo halls.

We quickly combed the halls for Scenic Travel, the sole agent for the 15 Days Cosmos tour which we intend to book. The lady who spoke to me on the phone, Charlotte, was busy when we got to the booth, so Hubby and I went to check out the credit card booths. We were shocked to find that the 28" luggage bag from DBS had been fully redeemed when it was just the first day of Natas. Then, shortly after, the 20" luggage bag from UOB also got fully redeemed.

We then went back to Scenic Travel booth and paid for our package, using OCBC and DBS credit cards. So, eventually, we ended up redeeming the 28" luggage from OCBC (minimum charge S$5,000) and the 20" luggage from DBS (minimum charge S$2,400). Hubby also participated in the Mastercard spin and won a backpack and a sports bag. So, lugging all these bags, we grabbed a cab home. Really fruitful trip!

Oh yah, what we booked was a 15-Day Land Tour starting from London which we will arrive a day earlier. Going Brussels, Rhineland, Innsbruck, Venice, Rome, Monte Cassino, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, Florence, Bologna, Lugano, Lake Lucerne then ending at Paris. Extending 1 more night in Paris. So, basically departing Singapore on 13th May and reaching Singapore on 31st May. Should be resting a day before starting work again on 2nd June.

I am really looking forward to this honeymoon holiday with Hubby!

Finally started my Yoga

After about a year gap, I finally started on my yoga. This time, I joined the yoga class at Tanjong Pagar CC with my colleagues, Ai Hwa and Sok Hui. Surprisingly, the instructor is pretty good.

Did the basic postures but I felt more rejuvenated immediately after that. Suddenly, I realise that I miss yoga so much and this is a reminder for me to do yoga more regularly. Think I should check out, concurrently, if there is another yoga class starting near office.

I did not start Salsa!

Was supposed to start Salsa first lesson today but Sam had a management meeting last minute so we did not go. Thank God we have not paid yet.

Even though I did not go for Salsa, I left office at about 9.30pm. It's really bad. I need to try to go back earlier.

On a happier note, I finally hired an Account Manager. A pretty young girl. She would be coming in on 1 March 2010. Hopefully I would be able to train her and pass her some duties so that I won't be so stretched.

It is 人日 today and I invited 2 groups of friends to our new house for mini gatherings; 1 group came in the afternoon and another group in the evening.

I do not want it too crowded so split into 2 groups so that everyone can get to talk to everyone. Oh yah, got to thank my mum for helping to cook for my friends and all my friends complimented her on her cooking skills.

Hubby and I went for 1.5 hour massage at My Spa. Feel so good after that! Haha! I think I really need massage monthly. Anyway, Chinatown was so crowded earlier and we had to squeeze ourselves down Temple Street to get to My Spa.

Salsa and Yoga

Spoke to Sam earlier and he's interested in learning Salsa. And since I was looking for a dance to practise, it is really timely.

Separately, I am also keen to start yoga, and will be asking my colleagues to join too.

Finally feeling excited to start activities which I like. I have been eating a lot prior to my customary wedding due to work stress, and from then early December till now, I have gained at least a few kilograms.

Weight issue aside, think I should at least start to stay fit/healthy. Really hope that 2010 will not be as hectic as 2009. Keeping my fingers crossed!

After my Customary Wedding

My customary wedding is finally over. All went well with the morning gate-crashing, afternoon tea ceremony and the evening wedding banquet.

For the wedding banquet, the guests were singing praises on the pre-wedding video which feature our love story. Kudos to Vocare Media, especially Sam and Jamie.

There were also raves on the photo guestcards which had the guests' pictures and laminated before given to them. Fantastic idea and also grateful to Andrew for his skills in capturing all the moments. For those of you who keen on a professional photographer, do check out Andrew of 1stJournal. You won't be disappointed.

Finally, would like to thank all those who helped me and Roy through this memorable day. Thanks so much!

I know that all of you are anticipating the photos taken yesterday but Andrew mentioned that it would only be ready a month later. So, got to wait!

We are going for a short trip to Bangkok from 30th December to 3rd January, together with Cheryl and Martin. It's not exactly our honeymoon but more of a shopping trip. For honeymoon, we are thinking of going Spain in May when the weather is good. December is cold!

Gaining weight when my wedding is 2 weeks away!

I am panicking but I can't help it. I have been eating a lot as work kept piling. It's not getting better and I have been eating really late dinners; eating at 10+pm everyday and it's really a FULL DINNER.

This is bad, I know. I hope I can find someone soon in to help me. I can't even go on leave prior to my wedding. Argh!

I suspect, at this rate I am working and eating, I should be looking like a PIGGY BRIDE on my wedding day on 25th December. Even Hubby mentioned that my dinners were way too late. *SOBZ*

Surprise greeted me when Hubby gave me my birthday present two days ago. It's a sling bag. I had wanted to get a sling bag and was deciding between an Agnes Bay or Coach sling bag. The Agnes B. one is more affordable but the Coach one is more stylish.

But guess what, Hubby actually got me the Burberry London sling bag instead! I am so happy!

It's Valentine's Day and may everyone be filled with blessed love from your partner and friends.

Dear got to work tonight so we had super late lunch of Teppanyaki followed by cake and tea at Bakerzin. Super full after that. It's our first Valentine's Day after marriage (R.O.M) and Dear can't spend with me. Was a little disappointed but on thinking that we would be catching BreakOut Breakdance show at Esplanade, feels better. Looking forward to spending time with Hubby tomorrow!

Met Jon about 7.30pm and ate at Holland Village. Had desserts there too. I was a little grouchy as I had wanted to go eat durian but after Holland Village, was too full for anything. Had a nice time catching up with Jon though. Other than Valentine's Day, it is really Friendship Day for us!

Victoria's Secret Boots and their Size

Finally have a chance to blog on my latest Victoria's Secret purchases.

I so so love the boots I ordered, especially the pair of burgundy Ruched Suede Boots. So gorgeous, and fit perfect. Nice for winter or autumn wear! The pair of black Mid-calf Stretch Boots was not bad too and I can wear them in Singapore. Chic!

Generally, I am a UK size 4 (My pair of Americaya boots is in Japanese size 23) in Singapore but because I was purchasing boots, I bought a size bigger at UK size 5. From Victoria's Secret, that will be a US size 7.5 (Note: Europe size 38).

As a tip for friends intending to buy shoes from Victoria's Secret, I would say the size fit true. I find this site very useful with an Adult Mens and Womens Shoe Size Conversion Table.

As for the other items, I am not too keen on the Blue Multicolour Strapless Smocked Dress. Makes me look short. Thinking of giving it to Cheryl.

The red Puffer Jacket fits nicely too but really not so suitable for hot and humid Singapore climate.

The major disappointment is the cherry Ruffle Halter Bra Top. Bought a size S but can't fit into it at all. Reminds me of how fat I am now. ARGH!

Finally, the Brow Gel. I think it is amazing. Helps to groom your brows... no need to draw your brows at all!

Finally... A Good Rest!

Finished the 2 important presentations or meetings today. One at 9.30am, followed by lunch, then 2pm and finally rushing back to office to give a summary of the minutes.

I am exhausted.

Back to work last Monday after my 1-month hospitalisation leave and from Tuesday to Thursday, was working till 10pm, and till 12 midnight on Friday. Went back to work on Saturday and Sunday too.

Can finally take my rest tonight.

My "Ang Pow" Harvest

Time flies and before we know it, it's the end of the second day of the Chinese New Year and most people will be back to work tomorrow.

This year, my "ang pow" harvest is slightly lesser than last year. For Roy's family, this will be the last year we are collecting red packets and we will have to give out red packets next year.

Thankfully, for my family, traditionally, the newly-weds only need to give red packets during the second year after their customary wedding. So, next year, I can still collect "ang pows" from my relatives!

Chinese New Year Reunion Lunch

As Roy has to work tonight, we had reunion lunch instead of reunion dinner at his parents' place. As per last year, we had steamboat.

Fourteenth day after my surgery: Slowly Recovering

Feeling better today. Eat as normal though still avoiding hot liquid. No longer relying on painkiller.

Weighed myself and gained 1kg. In fact, from surgery till now, I had lost 2kg and now gained back 1kg. Not eating excessively but perhaps the 2kg I lost earlier was really from water.

Anyway, just eat normal and healthy for now. Will look into losing weight after Chinese New Year.

Thirteenth day after my surgery: Ears hurt

My ears hurt, badly.

Slacked at home with Hubby today. When Hubby left for work at 6pm, I went for my hair treatment. I was on G.A. (General Anesthesia) during my surgery followed by 2 weeks of antibiotics. To a certain extent, these drugs cause hair loss and I am not spared. I thought I better go for my scalp+hair treatment weekly, at least for a month.

As it is, my hair is so thin and little. I definitely can't afford any hair loss!

Chinese New Year is coming but Hubby got to work on CNY Eve, 8pm to 8am. This means that we can only have reunion lunch. Thank God he doesn't have to work on 1st and 2nd day of CNY, then we can go 拜年.

I lost 2kg from the surgery till now. Not much as I gained this 2kg from my Bangkok trip. Really got to work harder at losing weight. Will start my bellydance again after CNY and Hubby and I gonna pick up Salsa together.

Twelfth day after my surgey: Bloody episode at A&E

So much for commenting that I was normal yesterday. Immediately after midnight, I sneezed once and to my horror, the phlegm and saliva I spat out were bloody. And for the next ten minutes, I was at my bathroom's basin coughing out blood, from the throat.

I woke Mummy up and she was shocked too. Quickly, Mummy gave me a glass or iced water to gurgle. After gurgling 3 cups of iced water, the blood flowing out subsided. Partly also because my throat was very dry and I have no more phlegm or saliva to spit out.

Then, for the next hour, the little phlegm which I coughed out, was not bloody. We waited because we are not sure if my condition really warrants going A&E. Mummy went to sleep at 2.30am. I drank some water then.

At 3am, as I was going to bed, I felt some phlegm swelling in my throat and spat out using a piece of tissue. To my utmost horror, it was bloody. Then I rushed to the bathroom and continued to spat out lotsa blood. I shouted for Mummy and when she saw me at the bathroom spitting out those bloody phlegm/saliva, she was terrified. We decided to go A&E.

Mummy called a friend who lives next block and asked me to change (I was in night dress then) to go A&E. Think I was spitting out blood for five minutes at the bathroom before I went to change and hurried downstairs. Brought a plastic bag along for coughing out the bloody phlegm.

Mummy's friend is so nice and we routed to Ang Mo Kio to pick Hubby up to join us. Coincidentally, Dear went home last night after dinner as he has a facial appointment today. Anyway, we reached A&E about 4am.

We were quickly registered and a nurse ushered me in while Mummy and Hubby waited outside. By then, my throat was too dry and I was no longer coughing or spitting. Was attended to by the A&E doctor on duty and when he checked my throat, could find no visible bloody wound. So, they called for the ENT doctor on duty.

I waited about 30 minutes before the lady doctor from ENT arrived. She checked me like what the A&E doctor did and said no bleeding externally. I muttered that if I were to drink water, I would definitely be spitting out lotsa blood. She sighed and asked if I could drink then. I told her I would try and immediately drank the cup of iced water she gave me thereafter. As I drank the cup of water, I had a sinking feeling that the whole bloody episode with blood-filled saliva/phlegm spitting will start soon.

The ENT doctor walked away for about 5 minutes to bring the equipment over for nose endorscope. She said that since there were no external bleeding, she just wanted to check if there was internal bleeding. Before she inserted the scope into my nose, she commented that I could go home and just needed to use iced water to gurgle to stop any bleeding. But I told her that there was too much blood to stop the bleeding.

She looked exasperated, as if I was lying and did not believe me, partly because when she was checking me earlier, when I spat, there was no blood. But I do know, it's because my throat was super dry and there was nothing to spit out.

Anyway, she did the endorscope on me, inserting into my nose and then leading to the back of my throat. It hurt. I hated that feeling. Immediately when she took out the scope, I spat or vomitted and there was lotsa blood. From that moment onwards, I just kept coughing or spitting out blood. Lotsa blood. The doctor was stunned.

It was so bad that I had to get up from the bed I was at to go to the basin and when offered the cups of iced-water to gurgle, I did as told. Gurgled the iced water and spat out. Whatever water that was spat out were bloody. I mean, like fresh blood. The doctor asked if I could try not to force out the blood and to follow her to the consultative room. I retorted that I did not deliberately forced the blood-filled phlegm out, instead it was swelling behind my throat and I had to spit it out.

I finally managed to follow her to a room, about 20 metres away. There, she asked me to sit down. I could not. Upon reaching the room, I raced to the basin and kept coughing out bloody phlegm. The nurse accompanying us was shocked too. The doctor held me to sit down and started putting some suction thingy into my mouth. She said she needed to suck out the rest of the blood filling my mouth first before she can burnt the blood vessels which are spurting out the blood non-stop.

But as she did the suction (maybe a few seconds), I could feel phlegm swelling behind my throat and coughed out blood once more. She pushed me to sit still and said I have to try to not cough out blood. I told her I would try but I could not help it.

Finally, she asked me to hold a plate under my chin and said that even if blood or saliva were to flow out of my mouth, just ignore, so that she can suck the blood then insert a stick to burn the blood vessels. We tried and finally after her doing the suction 6 times and successfully inserting a stick inside 4 times for 2 minutes each time, we are done. The bleeding miraculously stopped.

I gurgled lotsa iced water after that for 10 minutes before the bleeding stopped. I was then sent to the observation ward and the nurse said the doctor would see me again in an hour to see if the bleeding stopped.

Finally, at 7.15am, the doctor looked me up and asked there was still blood. I told her slight blood when I spat now after drinking water half an hour ago. She said ok and I could go home. I asker her what happened to me and she said that the back of my throat were grazed and the blood vessels were exposed, and spurting out blood. She advised me not to drink hot liquid as that will dilate the blood vessels causing the bleeding all over again.

I informed her that I was not drinking any hot water but there was still bleeding. She said she was not sure too but abrasion like this can occur anytime during recovery period and asked me to be more careful with my diet, especially to avoid hot and spicy food or liquid.

So I was discharged and got home about 8+am. Was so tired and immediately, Hubby and I collapsed onto bed.

This whole episode has indeed been very tramautising for me, Hubby and Mummy. Just pray hard that this will be the first and last occurrence.

Facial & Early Valentine's Day Gift

It's already the eleventh day after my surgery and other than the blocked nose, occasional ear pain and swelling phlegm in throat, I am pretty much normal. Eating well too.

Went for my due facial today at Beauty 21 after a sumptuous lunch of Clam Chowder Soup, Sirloin Steak and Grill Dory, and ice-cream. It has been about 4 to 5 months since I last went to Beauty 21 as I prefer to go Castelli now. But I still have a facial package with Beauty 21 so might as well go back to utilise it.

However, after the treatment, there was a red patch on my right cheek, likely to be sensitivity. Told Mary about it immediately and she gave me some cream. Mary said I should have informed her about my sensitive skin but well, I have been going Beauty 21 for close to 10 years and they should know my skin is sensitive. Duh. Anyway, glad that the redness subsided.

On a happier note, Hubby bought me a watch as an early Valentine's Day gift. Couple watches actually. Very pretty and I really like it. For couples watches I have seen, the female version is usually very un-ladylike which I don't like. We got the CASIO CHRONOGRAPH - Pair design models. Very nice!

Eighth day after my surgery: Follow-Up at ENT

Mummy accompanied me for my 12pm appointment with Dr Chan. He was so late and we waited an hour before my turn.

Dr Chan said that I am healing well and continued to prescribe me more antibiotics. lozenges and painkillers. I told him about the pain and he said it's alright and just to take painkillers when necessary. He also mentioned that the pain would subside when I start eating more often.

Then, it was another long wait at the Pharmacy for my medication. To make things worse, only my antibiotics, painkillers and cough syrup are available at that pharmarcy and I had to go to the retail pharmarcy section for my nasal spray and lozenges. Another wait though not as long as the pharmacy at Specialist Clinics.

By the time we left SGH, it was about 2.15pm and we grabbed a cab to have late lunch at AMK Hub. Had Wanton Soup Noodles. Then I went for my manicure and pedicure at Nail Palace whereas Mummy shopped around before heading home.

Today is strictly classic mani+pedi and I will be doing express mani+pedi and nailart next week to have prettier nails during Chinese New Year period. YEAH!

Only 1 manicurist tended to me today and took about 3 hours. So, it means that Jon waited an hour for me for dinner. Felt so bad. Anyway, he was quite nice about it and we went to grab some food thereafter before proceeding to Upper Thomson for a drink and prata (yah, I ate a bit of the prata).

Reached home at 9pm. Tired. Think got to hibernate at home next 2 days as the weekend will be super crowded and the doctor already warned me to stay away from crowd.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Dr Chan extended my hospitalisation leave till 30th January. This means that I only need to be back in office on 2nd February. A long rest for me and I think, in a way, is good as I am so afraid of infection. Well, at least I can access to office emails from home. But need to go back to office for a while on Monday to send out some emails. Will see how.

Seventh day after my surgery: First Decent Meal

Got better today but still taking painkillers. But I can eat now. Had my first decent meal at Delifrance today. Though I took a while, still managed to finished 3/4 of my bread, followed by a Hershey's Sunday Pie from Burger King. Sumptuous!

Anyway, went Causeway Point with Mummy and Dear earlier and ended up shopping for more skincare products. Mummy kept complaining why I never seem to have enough of skincare but well, what can I say... women will always be women!

Due to see Dr Chan tomorrow, followed by my manicure and pedicure session at Nail Palace. Can't wait!

Sixth day after my surgery: Nose Running & Pain Persists

My nose is still running and pain still persists. Am still relying on painkillers.

Anyway, Dear is on off today so we went to catch Red Cliff II (赤壁：決戰天下) in the afternoon. Actually, I think is this part 2 is quite nice, not too bad at all. Not sure why so many of my friends complain so much about this part 2.

It was 5.30pm after watching the movie and I was so famished. My last meal was a pancake from McDonald at 11am. So, I had a chocolate milkshare from McDonald at 5.30pm.

Then at about 7pm, drank soup and ate a bit of rice. Had Yakult too. Am hungry again now. Going to have some ice-cream!

May tomorrow be a better day!

Fifth day after my surgery: Ears, Throat & Jaws Hurt

My throat, ear and jaws hurt badly. It was so bad that I woke up at 5.30am to pop painkillers. And for the whole day, every 4 to 5 hours, I have been taking painkillers.

Yesterday was bad too but I endured and used ice packs. But today, I could not bear the pain, so the painkillers got to come in. It felt like the connecting nerve from throat, nose and ear is pulling, tremendously.

On a more optimistic note, the pain when swallowing anything is not as bad now. Ate porridge today. Intend to go McDonald to have pancakes tomorrow morning with Dear and Mummy.

Tomorrow will be a better day!

Fourth day after my surgery: Jaws Hurt

My jaws hurt and I have been using ice-packs on my jaws for a few hours. Ear drums are hurting too.

Although I am not sneezing as much as yesterday, my cough still persists. And my throat is itchy. Optimistic me treats it as a sign of recovery. Afterall, whenever we have the cough or flu, itchy throat normally occurs when we are about to recover.

Tomnorrow should be better...

Third day after my surgery: Coughing & Sneezing Non-Stop

Am waiting for the Hubby to buy porridge back for hungry me. My last meal was at 11.30am, about 1/4 bowl of fish porridge and 1 Yakult.

Dear has been very patient with me throughout this whole ordeal, especially yesterday when I kept throwing tantrums due to difficulty in swallowing any food. I was so hungry! And today the Hubby bought the fish porridge for me this morning. In fact, he basically just "burnt" his precious weekend looking after me!

Still feeling miserable as I have been coughing and sneezing non-stop since 5am. My ears and teeth are still aching even though the pain is slightly better than yesterday.

Sure hope that the sneezing and coughing will subside tomorrow!

What doctors do not tell you...

.... after your Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty :

That your head will be spinning and you will feel nauseous after the surgery due to the oxygen mask placed on you throughout the surgery.

That your not-so-painful self immediately after the surgery is due to the anesthetics slowly wearing off and pain will sink in the next day.

That your nose will either be terribly blocked or secreting slightly-bloody mucus consistently for the next few days after surgery.

That not only will your throat hurt, but also your ears and teeth will ache badly from the third day onwards.

That the jaws area will be swollen from the third day onwards.

That ice packs are the best treatment ever for your aching jaws, teeth or ear.

That sleeping will be so difficult with phlegm swelling in your throat, yet you can't manage to cough it out due to your raw throat still recovering.

That it is even painful to swallow your own saliva.

Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty & Tonsillectomy

Discharged this afternoon from SGH. Throat is hurting terribly and my nose keeps secreting bloody mucus. Doctor Chan has advised to stay at home next 2 weeks and to avoid crowded places as I will be very prone to infection during this period.

So, just to throw some light on the 2 surgical procedures I went through yesterday morning; Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty & Tonsillectomy. The latter is quite obvious, the removal of tonsils.

Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) is a procedure used to remove excess tissue in the throat, which widens the airway. This sometimes can allow air to move through the throat more easily when you breathe, decreasing snoring. UPPP involves the removal of the uvula and back of the soft palate, which widens the airway, and is often accompanied by Tonsillectomy.

Now, that explains my difficulty to swallow even my saliva and also secretion from my nose and even blocked nose. And guess what, Cheryl and Zijun dropped me a surprised visit last night at SGH. So sweet of them, thanks babes!

My follow-up appointment is in a week's time. Meanwhile, Dear bought ice-cream for me so that I can eat. Drinking cold water too. Earlier, I ate some porridge with a plate of minced chicken with egg for dinner. I was having difficulty swallowing the minced chicken too. But because I was really hungry, I forced myself to finish the dinner.

Oh yah, received a Get-Well basket at 7pm. It is from the company. So nice hoh?

I need to clear my work!

So busy today. Lotsa to do. Doesn't help that my PAT (Pre-Admission Test) is at 1.30pm tomorrow and I have to prepare for an important meeting on Wednesday morning.

Think my PAT will take a few hours and I should be heading to UE Square to join some colleagues to eat something then back to office. They are likely to stay back for the KTV session. Seriously hope that I have time to complete my work by tomorrow. Argh.

All I want to do is to clear all outstanding work by 7th so that I can peacefully go for my operation on 8th. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

Confirmed my Pre-Admission Test date

Dear helped me call SGH's ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) Centre and managed to fix my Pre-Admission Test (PAT) on 6th at 1.30pm. I have no other choice as all appointments are fully booked.

Am feeling a little anxious because I have a 9am meeting on 7th at an external site. The PAT may take the rest of the day and I am concerned of having no time to rush back to office.

Anyway, spent the day at home with Dear but my poor Dear has slight fever and flu. My poor baby.... was asking him to go on leave tomorrow but he said got to go to work unless he can't climb out of bed!

Ate a lot for dinner too... so much for losing weight. Really need to trim down after my tonsils operation. Am contemplating blogging my daily meals so as to keep reminding myself. Do you think it will work?!?
